how could we let this thread slide so far??? :P

Been really busy recently, but we finally got Kathe's AOS paperwork in the mail. I think it was easier to put everything together for the visa. So we are doing that, taxes and trying to buy a house all at the same time. WHEEEEEEEE!

Things are good on the west coast of the country... we are getting ready for the baby!! He/She(we decided we dont want to know if it is a boy or a girl) will be here around the beginning of june... hopefully sooner!! :)

On my bday(March 5th), we celebrated at a Peruvian Restaurant... Andina!! It was awesome... I had chicha morada, lomo saltado and alfajores... The place was full, we had to make reservations with 2 weeks in advance... people like Peruvian food!!! :D:dance:

Hi All

We got back going on 3 weeks now from a GREAT 10 days in Peru.

It was great being with family and friends again.

Lima is crazy if not crazier than a year ago it seems. Also alot of tourists.

We did notice that it's gotten more expensive there, and that can only come from the rising gas prices which affects everything as we are seeing here.

We ate more excellent food in 10 days than I think we eat here in a month.

The hotel we were in was great.....$65.00 a night including breakfast (Boulevard Hotel & Casino) you can't beat it.

We had our religous wedding that turned out very well. The only problem we had was the priest who was in it for the money and gave rules and regulations hours before the ceremony that messed up a couple of things. The party we had the photographer and flowers were perfect.

We also did a 3 night side trip to Puno and a great day trip on the lake. For those who have never been there, you have to go visit.

When we left Lima to come back (LAN) we were asked just before boarding the plane to show our marriage license, passports and green card. Very strange they would ask us as we board the plane and not at immigration/passport control.

We hope to be back at the end of the year if possible for Christmas and New year.

VIVA PERU !!!!!

Don't forget about us................

Right now we are gathering information to send our I-751, I'm dealing with all the papers 'cause my hubby wants to pay a lawyer and I want to show him that we can do it without spending $$$$.

Yesterday we had an special dinner at my in-laws (Sunday Easter), we had a good time but I have to say that I miss alot the famous "campings" my family loves to go to the beach, actually they go every weekend and is our tradition to close the summer season with a gigantic CAMPAMENTO. We don't have that in NYC :(

What else, oh, something funny happen 1 month ago, my best friend from kindergarden contacted me through the hi5 , she moved to NYC 6 years ago, and is living just 4 blocks from my house, isn't that crazy???? !!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy about that, now we hang out all the time.

.Last friday we went to Pardo's Chicken and enjoy a delicious "Chaufa a la Brasa", + "Anticuchos" with "Tacu Tacu" yes they sell tacu tacu at Pardo's Chicken.

.Melissa, I'm so happy for you, I keep saying to Sil that when I get pregnant I don't want to know the sex of the baby but he says that he'll definitely want to know.

.MandyR I'm glad you had a great time in Peru, to be honest I don't think that the prices went up, I bought so many things to bring to the States.... where did you get married? wich church???

. We got satellite, finally decided to change the service and now we get "CADENA SUR PERU" , is like being in Peru!!!!

Well guys gotta go back to work.....

Saludos

It hasnt been hard at all for us not to find out... I feel we are "keeping the magic"... everything is green, yellow, white and ivory; I love the idea of "torturing" our family, hehehe... everyone wants to know, but us... we had the ultrasound last january and when they asked us if we wanted to know, we said "NO!"... we had to cover our eyes for a while, they wrote in all my charts "Do NOT want to know sex of the baby"...

Chris and I are very "old fashioned"... it is not that we will never know, it is just about patience, ;) I laugh when people ask me about Childbirth Classes(I refrained from enrolling until a week ago!!)... my MIL asked me and I told her that the baby was coming out anyway, with pain, with not pain... breathing or not breathing... they convinced me though, so we start with that in a couple of weeks.

I am so excited about our little one! We are almost ready! :)

Pardo's Chicken?? Where??? I am dying to have some pollo a la brasa with that aji huacatay!! YUmmy!!!

Hi guys

This thread is great, although I have not had the time to read it completely. I have guests to dinner tonight and want to delight them with my favorite dish Aji de Gallina  And since it is a lot of time I cooked this I am not sure if I should add palillo or not, also palillo = turmeric?.

I found aji mirasol in paste (inca foods) and thats the only peruvian spice I would be using. I am also having some yucca fritters with salsa a la huancaina  I prefer the fritters instead of potatoes.

Any suggestions are welcome!! Wish me luck! :innocent:

Hi maquilart, thanks for responding. My aji de gallina was delicious  So far, no guest has reported poisoning or something  I will check that website later. I couldn't find yucca anywhere so had the papa a la huancaina instead of the fritters.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!! You must be super happy!

God bless

Aji de Gallina is my favorite Peruvian dish... I can eat it for lunch, breakfast and dinner!! All in the same day, hehehe...

I am extremely happy about the pregnancy, although I must say... I want it to be over soon! My belly is huge, and heavy! Everyone says I will have a big baby, I really dont know and up to this point... I dont care... I just want the baby out, hehehe... Im sorry if I sounded desperate, but it is the truth!! Hehehe...

It's so funny there are least 10 women in my group of friends and family that are expecting babies.... , I just found out that one of my best friends from Peru is going to be a daddy in september.

Melissa, 've you decided about names????

My hubby's family keep saying that I'll have a big belly too, I'm a small person (5'2 108 lbs)and Sil is much taller (6'2 ????) he weighted almost 10 lbs when he born. I'm a little scared about that

Guys, you can't beat finding all the available tickets prices in a one single search when using expedia.com or kayak.com. In this last one, for the same month (June) and same airport (JFK), Taca offers the flight for 509 dollars... If flying Lacsa+TACA 478 dollars (or something like that, 2 stops though). Don't fall for sAAvings before comparing.

Buen viaje!
