Sounds like an excellent idea. I'll have to try to fit it in. Gonna venture north Peru to Piura-Mancora 3 days, Trujillo 2 1/2 days and then back home. Want to checkout Chan Chan & the Pyramids of the Sun & Moon. Just kind of sorry not to be able to check out Huaraz :( From what I've seen it is absolutely incredible the mountain ranges there. Absolutely breathe taking! Only going to be there just under 10 days, so fitting that in will take away time with the familia.

But yes Vi, I will have to bite into one of those sandwiches!! :)

Sinceramente,

Eff

I am back! I was in Lima for 5 days, the trip was so short... I think I did everything I wanted to though... the main idea was to see my family and spend time with them, that is why none of my friends knew I was coming(I hope they will forgive me!)

I ate soooo much! I think I have gained 7lbs just in those days... But what can I do? My baby needs to have a little bit of REAL Peruvian spices too!! ;)

Vi, did you get sick when you were in Lima? I got sick the very last day, I dont know if it was the water or the food... it was weird!! I feel much better now, but I never thought I would get sick in LIMA!!!!!

I love Peru!

Depending on how much time you have - Ayacucho is a cool place to visit - especially if you like archaeology. The museums in Lima (especially el museu nacional) are great!

Lake Titicaca is gorgeous and it's worth it to get up early in the morning because that part of the day is amazing. You can go kayaking too.

If you can make it to Bolivia then you can see the ruins of Tiwanaku.

I wish I could go back (I worked in Ayacucho in 2003).

Veroka,

Delia and I can't get to Peru until May and we need some Peruvian food. We are going to be in Columbus next weekend and we want to go to Garcia's or Restaurante LA GUADALUPANA. La Guadalupana seems to have a better menu. We are really looking for a good pollo a la brasa preferably cooked over lena.

Also, would you have any recomendation on a good place to go dancing to latin music?

Thanks for all your help

Andy

We were in Columbus last weekend and I keep forgetting to get your contact info Veroka! :( Kathe prefers columbus over cleveland (and as I am doing my taxes now I do even more so myself), but the job is here, so we go to columbus probably once a month. :)

How was your trip to Peru??? how did you find Lima??? any pics???

Vi

Hola Vi

the trip was excelent !!!

I was so happy being back after 1 year. there are new things (stores, buildings, .. the airport looks kinda different too)

We went to Ica, huacachina oasis, Paracas reserve, ballestas island, Nasca lines.

and in Lima I met my family and some friends like Oly who was there w/her husband.

We also bought some souvenirs like retablo, lienzo that is on my wall now :D . I thought they will charge us more because of jeff but if You look well, You can find for less

If you or anyone wanna see pic of Lima, e-mail me and I will let you see my yahoo photos

That's cool that you had a great time!! and you got to meet Oly and her husband.

When I went to Peru we bought a bunch of stuff for the house too like pOottery from ChuLucanas, retablos,a new nativity, last year I went to a flea market here in NYC and is amazing how people overcharge the prices.

There is a peruvian lady near my job who sells jewelry from our country I talked to her and she charges maybe 5 times the real price of the products, crazy!!

Gotta got to work...

saludos

Vi

how could we let this thread slide so far??? :P

Been really busy recently, but we finally got Kathe's AOS paperwork in the mail. I think it was easier to put everything together for the visa. So we are doing that, taxes and trying to buy a house all at the same time. WHEEEEEEEE!
