Thanks Vi!!

I got the ok from my doctor today, I have been looking for plane tickets here and there are a little bit under $1000, my dad is contacting the travel agency that he always goes through to see if he can find it for a little bit less there... we will see, I think early february is a high season for Lima being that it is the middle of summer... We will see.

I am so excited to go back, specially now that it is freezing cold here in Oregon!!! I cant wait to go to the beach and feel the warm water again...

Hey Peruvians. I am trying to put on a Peru night for friends of ours. We are having people over for dinner. I would LOVE to make canchita. My husband and I love it! We´ve been missing it.

Any help? Thanks!

I ordered some from www.labodegaperuana.com they even have maiz morado ready for you to boil and make the chicha... :)

Best price for popcorn:

Hi Melissa

Happy for you that you get to travel back home after being away for so long...... I would like to know how much and where you eventually get your ticket from.

We were hoping to use my airmiles for both our tickets to Lima, but of course the times we want to travel in March is Spring Break here and all those seats are gone. So now we have to pay the air tickets and all expenses for our religious wedding......

Hi MandR!

I ended up buying my plane tickets through Delta Online, I looked everywhere and couldn't find the "right" flight for me... I usually fly with American Airlines, buy for some reason they dont have direct flights from Dallas to Lima anymore, all the flights go through Miami!! Insane!! When I looked there they wanted me to fly from Portland, OR to Los Angeles, CA to Miami, FL to Lima... 22 hour flight with an 8 hour stop in LA... the price was right, but with the pregnancy I wasn't doing that... the price after taxes through American Airlines was around 950.00. I looked in Lan Peru and they had one from Portland to Los Angeles to Lima, short stop and everything, but the price was in the $1200. I checked orbitz, travelocity, yahoo travel, flycheapsabroad, expedia, bookingonline... everywhere and the best deal I found was the one in Delta... Portland, Atlanta, Lima... for $910.

Definitely the sooner you try to get the ticket, the better deal you will find, I found this very same ticket two weeks ago for $750, I didnt get it because I wasnt sure I was going to be able to.

I hope you can make it... I still cant believe I will be there in the middle of the summer!! :D

Wow, you got a great price..... right now we can't find tickets for less than $600.00 Mia-Lim-Mia.

2 weeks ago the price was $520.00

I am thinking about trying priceline.com and seeing if I can name my own price and hope to get it.

I hope you can find a good deal, I have always looked in the airline company website first, they usually dont have any extra fees associated with the tickets.

Also try kayak.com it does a search of all the airlines and you can also search 3 days before and after your preferred date. That's how I found my flight on Delta - Phoenix - Atlanta - Lima $697.

I came back from Lima 2 weeks ago, everything still the same BUT I'll recommend you to visit Larcomar (looks so different!!) the new stores are really cool.

I made the mistake to go to the Indian Markets in Petit Thouars with my hubby Plop!! a soon as they saw him they charge me double the price, I went back the next day with my dad and I got the regular prices. Another places that we love is "El Tayta" a bar in Miraflores with diferent kinds of Pisco Sour. "Huaringas" is in our list, great Pisco Sour too.

If you like to dance be prepared 'cause eveybody listens to "Reggaeton" we are not big fans of that rythm but they play it everywhere.

That's it.... good luck in your trip!!!!

Saludos

sorry for the delays in posting. What a busy couple of weeks. The wedding is done (now on to the AOS process). :) She is here in the US and while loving the US she is not so big on the cold. The average temperature for the last couple of weeks has been 22F. She thinks the snow is awesome as long as she can see it from inside the house :)

Hopefully I will be around a little more now (especially since I will need more help with the AOS). Glad the wedding is over, but everything turned out PERFECT. :) Veroka, we came back to the states on the 17th. Hopefully we can meet up in Columbus or Cleveland some time tho.
