so i called the personnel office and i asked this woman about donating leave and she said they can't donate for maternity leave. then she asked how many weeks i'd take off, i said 12 and she said but maternity leave is allowed 6 weeks only.

then i said no, FMLA allows 12 weeks, and she said no, FMLA doesn't cover maternity leave. #######? i got my NAF handbook andi was right. so anyway, she said she'd called me back then she called me back and said i can have 12 weeks if approved by my boss. ####### again.

I'll have to go there and speak to someone who knows their job.

Nessa, most likely you won't be able to turn in the paperwork early. The paperwork includes a certification from your doctor stating the first day you should be out from work, which depending on how comfortable you are it can be before or the same day you have the baby.

At my company, the rule is to fill out part I (employee's statement) when you start your leave (first day out) and doctor's statement (part II of the paperwork) has to be turned in within the following 15 days and supporting the first day out, and the 12 weeks start on the date stated by the doctor as first day out. I think we are pretty standard with all this, but your company's policy may vary a little.

Saludos,

Caro

So I am multi posting the same info on threads to update everyone, but I finally have my duplicate Australian Police Check. Its such a poor cousin to the UK one. Its just a piece a paper. Any way I called the courier service but after talking with AN IDIOT I found out they won't pick up the phone in that department till Monday, so I am planning on flying back Wednesday 4 March.

I think it depends on the company. I was told at my company to fill out the paperwork asap. I've already done my part and am just waiting till my next doctor's appt for them to fill out their part. They told me at my company it's all based on guesstimates when you're dealing with pregnancy. You just put the date you think it will be then they adjust everything once the baby comes. Especially in my case, with having twins, I have no clue when I'll have my babies. It could be anywhere from mid June to mid July.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

That is great news. Now it's all finally happening, the waiting has come to an end. :D

Today in 4 weeks I fly to Charlotte again. I am so ready for a change of scenery. We have been thinking of going on a little trip, I miss the sea and the way the salty air smells, so we are thinking of going to visit a few islands off NC's coast.

I feel whack today. I spent too much time at home in the last two weeks because of that damn flu.
