My views on book is: I will read it if it entertains me. So you'll see me as excited about Harry Potter as with The Kite Runner. I will appreciate a book for it's story if it's good, even if I am aware the author is poor as far as writing goes. I will equally appreciate an author's excellent writing skills in a denser book and I can tell the difference in a well written book and poorly written one.

That being said I'm not ashamed to say I read ####### like Nora Roberts 'cus it makes me laugh, or 'cus it keeps me distracted. That is Twilight for me. They're not "good" books, they're very tween, and they're incredibly sugary. But I liked what she did with the story, and the characters are captivating, and I enjoy reading it many times over, so, so what? :)

Of course I recommend books based on who I am recommending them to, and I won't discuss Twilight with my mother, with her we talk about Chico Buarque's book or Dan Brown or whatever else is good and/or entertaining.

Now, I draw the line in books when both the story and the writing are bad, or when I'm just not in the mood for heavy reading.

I do love fantasy books like Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials and young adult books, so easy to read that's just delightful, which doesn't mean I only like easy silly books.

well i bet my boss thought that was something her boss was supposed to sign, but if her boss sent it back, that means my boss has to do it :dead: another week wait to know about my leave.

Sorry to hear about your leave. I'm having issues with mine as well. My supervisor and boss approved me for 12 wks but HR only wants to give me 6 wks for a vaginal delivery and 8 wk for a c-section. That's what the doctor put on the paperwork when he filled it out (well actually the nurse did it). So now I have to either see if the doctor will redo another form for me approving the 12 wks or I have to take 4-6 wks of unpaid leave. Honestly, this whole maternity leave thing is a pain in the @ss.

'my doctor put 6 weeks and i asked her not to write on the note how many weeks i'd need, just because i was afraid the same would happen. she said she cannot write 12 weeks, because i am not medically needed to stay home for 12 weeks, but she could write nothing so it wouldn't give me any problems ;)

Fantasy books are good. My fave is The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold. Love it love it love it.

Last fantasy book that I read and enjoyed was Licia Troisi's "Cronache del Mondo Emerso". I read it in Portuguese but that's the original italian title. From what I search online there's no English translation yet.

As far as fantasy books go, I LOVE the Sword of Truth books by Terry Goodkind. AMAZING! They are really quite interesting books and even though they have an underlying story or love, they bring in lots of current issues and I think the author did an amazing job writing them. The first book was made into a TV series called "The Legend of the Seeker"...which SUCKED. So if you watched Legend of the Seeker and didn't like it...don't let this put you off these great books!

I PMed you :P

OK. So Matilda was instructed NOT to contact anyone, right?????? Well, of course the chopfuck emailed and phoned a colleague -as I knew he would- and spilled the beans to her.

Our administrator recommended termination and our Chair supported the recommendation. Major, major problem for Matilda. He has to meet with the Dean (now, THAT is not something you want to be summoned to) on Friday; to "defend" his case; but chances are he will be, indeed, canned.

On his email he actually had the nuts to say "I would expect this from the admin., but I an VERY -capitals in original- disappointed at the Chair" blink.gif #######?!?!?! YOU are disappointed???? What a joke of a man, really. This is stranger than a Salvador Dali painting, I kid you not.

He also contacted the dude who was previously in my position.... who actually quit amongst other things because he got tired of covering Matilda's ####... to ask him to PLEAD HIS CASE blink.gif I tell you, this chopfuck is desperate.

and my colleague, who is a sweet woman and highly naive, is almost crying. #######, really. I felt bad for like 25 seconds, then Bren put me in place with a "do you think HE felt bad any of the times he left YOU to do his job? or when lay-offs were announced and he gloated on his seniority? I don't think so". Nuff said.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
