yeah i've always had a list of names i like. benjamin has been first choice since i can remember. i think if i was in brazil and charles was brazilian i would probably name him vinicius instead, but here it's too complicated for americans to pronounce and spell.

yeah benjamin is pronounced pretty much the same way here and brazil. just the e in ben would be a bit different, here it's bén, in brazil it's ben lol nobody will understand that but laura.

and the ja would be dja here and ja there lol

Girl, I got you...same in Arg with Benjamin. Is the min pronounced as meen in Brazil, too?

Yeah, Benjamin for me sounds entirely different in Brasil, but sounds pretty both ways, but for instance Luis thought of Elizabeth as a name for a girl, and although it sounds pretty in English I never liked the name in Portuguese and would not want to have people calling my girl that, or having that issue where you go with the "american" name and write it to be pronounced the right way but written totally wrong.

We tried to do the whole names that are pronounced in spanish and english thing too. In the end I said screw it. So we picked four names we both could agree on. His family hates them but I could care less. They're my kids and I'll name them whatever I want to name them. Javi actually had to tell his mom, "well mom we weren't going to name them Juan, Jesus, or Julio." We still have tons of racist pricks around here. I didn't want them labeled right off the bat with a hispanic name.
