I love the Sancor brand...I'm looking for the word...it is not as heavy as some of the other dulces out there. But let's be honest - I'll eat just about any Argentine dulce out there.

Nessa, are you still working?

Over here you get the six weeks off before and after delivery (with full pay, at least that's how I understand). That surely can't be good for you to still work.

Julia over here maternity leave sucks. Unless you just have the vacation or sick time to take off before the baby comes you work right up until you go into labor. Unless the doctor puts you out of work. So I'll be here too right up until I pop. I suppose you could start your FMLA before the baby is born but that just gives you less time to spend with it after the birth. I hate maternity leave here in the States. It's the suck!

Oh wow, that is just so wrong and actually makes me shake my head. It's sad that they are making women miss out on enjoying their pregnancy and the few weeks after the baby is there. Plus the health risks of putting such a strain on a women's body and make her work full time the weeks before delivery. Outrageous!

Yep, it sucks! They seriously need to do some sort of overhaul on that issue. I think it's absolutely ridiculous you have to use your vacation/sick time to take off when you have a baby. They should have some sort of system set up for maternity leave. I mean, in all actuality how many women would use it out of all the women that work for a particular company. Not everyone wants to have kids. But for us that do, we shouldn't have to use up all our vacation/sick time to do so. Then take days without pay if we don't have enough leave to cover it. Just absolutely absurd.

yeah in brazil you can get i think 6 months of paid leave, so most people take off when they're a few weeks before due date.

Here FMLA covers up to 12 weeks, but i've heard at least here on base bosses are approving only 6 weeks (it should be 6 weeks minimun for natural birth and 8 weeks minimun for C-section).

So i'll work til the day i pop the kid so i can spend as much time as i can with him.

oh, and it's unpaid leave.
