It was definitely got lost at the old address. It does not matter you have I-551 stamp on your passport or not. If you want to see your GC, you have to file I-90 & pay $370 (Including Biometrics, btw you have to go biometrics again !...).

This is the way it works with USCIS. When you change your address during AOS process, they do not update the address properly, hence they must have mailed your GC to the old address. I am very sure about it.

FYI, You should never ever have changed your address until you have received your GC, that is a big mistake !.......

So even though I had all my mail forwarded to my new address, that does not make a difference? Also, I only reported my change of address because I was told by IO, that it is very important to report change of address. I figured I was already approved, already go approval notice and welcome letter. Does it mean that card was sent back to USCIS or is just lost in the system? Can I check with Post Office to see if there is any mail there for me?

If anything, the card has been returned to USCIS. Post office does not hold or forward USCIS mail so they wont have it.

When you apply for I-751 to remove the conditional status after 2 years, they usually don't call for the interview if they haven't called you for the initial interview. So, in your particular case, I don't think you will go for an interview of course if your marriage goes smoothly without any problems. Please be relax, it is over. Do not be paranoid about it. You are done, get over this & concentrate some other important things in your life.

Have a nice & happy summer !....

First of all I want you to know that USCIS system is not a PERFECT. Even if you have changed your address, your new address does not appear & is not updated on every single application simultaneously !.......

Which address have you received your approval & welcome letter ? Old or New address ?

I know one thing for sure if you are approved on 05-14-09, you should be receiving your GC by now. If your GC was returned to USCIS due to "UNDELIVERABLE", then you are lucky because you do not have to pay $370, just fill out

I-90 & mail it; you will get your GC in about two months but if it was sent & got lost at old or new address then you have to pay $370 if you want to see your GC.

Read following carefully especially 2 "in red", exactly taken from USCIS I-90 form application.

The fee for this application is $290.00.

The fee for the biometrics is $80.00.

You may submit one check or money order for both the

application and biometrics fees, for a total of $370.00.

Exceptions. There are some exceptions to having to pay the

$290.00 application filing fee like follows:

1. If you are filing only because the card issued to you was

incorrect due to a USCIS administrative error. However,

if the error was not caused by USCIS, both application and

biometrics fees are required.

2. If you are filing only because you never received your

card. However, if the card was sent to the address

provided and never returned to USCIS, your application

will be rejected. You must file another Form I-90

application and on the first page of the form under

Application type., Number 2, Reason for application,

check box a that states: My card was lost, stolen or

destroyed. Include both application and biometrics fees

with your form.

I know it is so stupid logic & way of handling of the business but this is their way !.......

They charge you $1,010 for AOS application fee, they don't want to pay $4-5 to mail your important document like your GC either with UPS or FEDEX, instead they mail it to you as a regular mail with USPS, it is not even registered, by paying only 38.2 cents !..... and then when it is lost, they say " it is lost & it is your fault, please cough me another $370 if you want to see your GC " this is unbelievable, but what are you going to do about it ? You can take them to the Federal Court, but it takes time ......

I received my welcome notice at my old address. What I don't understand is why all of my other mail has been forwarded and post office didn't forward mail from USCIS. I did a change of address with them. I'm Praying and hoping that it went back to USCIS and I can just receive it in the mail 2 months from now or better yet, any day now.

If you got the Welcome Letter at the old address, then your GC has gone to the old address too.

USPS does not forward the official letters !....... They just return it back to them as "UNDELIVERABLE".

If I were you I would call the NBC in Missouri first to see my GC has been returned or not & then fill out I-90 & mail.

GOOD LUCK !....

Please update us, thank you...

Finally after months of checking my status online they've added my I-485....... and lo and behold as of July 14th my case has been transfered to CSC. No 2.5hr drive each way to Memphis and no harrowing interview.....thank god for that!!!

Cino could you please update the spreadsheet when you've got a mo.....thanks so much.

wow!!!! congrats!!!

hopefully it wont be long now! :)

i tried to go to the social security office today with my greencard to get that offensive "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION" line removed from my card and it didn't go very well...

when they tried to verify me with dhs, apparently she could only see my maiden name and could not proceed as the names didn't match. she said that they sent an electronic request and i should hear a response in four weeks!

has anyone else tried to do this?

Hi Rocks....thanks for that.....How are things going for you....apart from the SSN office that is

I haven't tried that yet, I thought we had to wait till we got the actual GC. I did try to get a Walmart Debit card though. She couldn't activate it properly because when she checked my ssn she couldn't get verification, even though I'd already used it to open a proper bank account and used it to get a state ID........so go figure  ....I hate to think what will happpen when I go to get the offensive wording of my card.......

Cheers

Ok, so now I'm a bit concerned....on top of my previous dilemma about not receiving my green card yet because I moved. USCIS sent a message to my email saying that the last action taken on my account was back at the end of April when they sent my EAD. So here's why I'm confused.... it seems that my case is going backwards. Which is completely crazy seeing as though I've already had an interview, been approved and gotten an I-551 stamp since getting the EAD. Maybe there is hope after all that there has just been a screw up and I still will get my GC without having to pay anything additional.

What do you guys think?
