Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've been on here. Hope all is well with everyone. Just an update:

Even though I was approved back on May 14, I still have not received my green card as yet. I got my approval and welcome notice back on May 18 both dated for May 14. Then there was the whole delay in card productions. I got email notice dated June 18 saying that an approval notice was being mailed out to me. Never got that one and it's now July 15.

I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that I moved since being approved. I DID do an address change, so I'm not sure. I called USCIS and they said that maybe the card is lost and if it is then I would have to pay $280.... I'm like yeah right! I'm not paying another dime.

Anyways....what do you guys think? H-E-L-P...HELP!!!!!

Did the IO stamp your passport with I-551? If not make an infopass appointment and ask about your missing GC and get your passport stamped as well.

It was definitely got lost at the old address. It does not matter you have I-551 stamp on your passport or not. If you want to see your GC, you have to file I-90 & pay $370 (Including Biometrics, btw you have to go biometrics again !...).

This is the way it works with USCIS. When you change your address during AOS process, they do not update the address properly, hence they must have mailed your GC to the old address. I am very sure about it.

FYI, You should never ever have changed your address until you have received your GC, that is a big mistake !.......

Our interview letter has finally arrived !!!

It was sent on July 7th. The interview is going to be on August 7th.

As evidence we have:

  • health and car insurance cards
  • bills from netflix
  • joint tax returns for 2008
  • house lease
  • gas/electric bills

Do you guys think that should be enough or should we look for more ?

We avoided the interview by being transferred to Ca.and the 2 year green card arrived pretty quickly.

My question is, does that mean we will have an interview two years down the line when applying for the ten year greencard.

does anyone have any info?

Congrats and good luck to all.

John

My GC arrived in the mail today

At the interview I asked the IO to change the name to my married name, however they sent the GC in my maiden name... I dont know if I want to go through the hassle of changing my name on the GC now after all this..

So even though I had all my mail forwarded to my new address, that does not make a difference? Also, I only reported my change of address because I was told by IO, that it is very important to report change of address. I figured I was already approved, already go approval notice and welcome letter. Does it mean that card was sent back to USCIS or is just lost in the system? Can I check with Post Office to see if there is any mail there for me?
