Of course, you can do that. You have to take your Marriage Certificate, your SS card (If you still have it, even if it is lost

it does not matter as long as you know the number) & your EAD. You can have the new card with the new last name & No Working Restrictions, but still the SAME SS NUMBER !.....

It takes 1 week to arrive your SS Card in your mailbox.

I have my Interview tomorrow, can anyone provide their experiences from last couple of days?

I had my interview today at Phoenix, Az and I got approved fro a 2 year green card. The IO was super nice and looks like Korean. It took us 15 minutes only and no grilling question. Just very basic. He asked my husband if how many times he went to my country, if it's my first marriage, if I have arrested here in US, is it my first time to come here in US, asked if we have doca that both had our names, so I gave him our joint bank account, health care insurance that he got from his work and that's it it seems that he was impressed of it :D and he said that my case is approved. He took the I-94 and my EAD too and gave us a paper which he printed from his computer saying "Congratulations!"

So for now, I could relax for 21 months from USCIS and hopefully could remove the conditions 90 days prior to the expiration of my green card. That's what the IO told us. For those who are waiting, hang in there I know soon yours will be approved too with God's help. Thank you visa journey and God Bless us all.

Hello All,

We had our interview in the Santa Ana office this morning at 8:00am. Things went very smoothly. The IO was very friendly. She made us take an oath and started to go through our file to verify

1. Name, address, port of entry, date of last entry, I-94 etc (Not questions as such but just verifying everything was correct)

2. She asked us about the medial report we had send along with the TB vaccination. Again just a check

3. Routine questions (Have you been arrested before etc...), pretty much going through our 485 application

Then she said she saw no problem and approved the GC. My wife is on a K-3. Hence a 10 yr greencard. Things the IO kept were

1. The EAD

2. The AP

She made photocopy of my (USC spouse) drivers ID and gave us a one-page form with her signature and approval. She said they don't stamp I551 on the passport anymore and that we should receive our GC in 2 weeks. She said if we need to leave the country before we get the GC, then we would have to go back and get the I551 stamp. All in all, a pleasant experience.

Good luck to all. Cannot thank the people enough in this forum and the information I have gained and the level of confidence this forum has given me.

Cino - Update - Green Card on the way :)

Wow! Congratulations to all! I have a feeling that all Feb filers will have their GC granted. Cheers! Of course, this website and the people in it have been very friendly and accomodating and very helpful in their advices. I also thank the other website where I first got into prior to VJ.. both have been very insightful for me, but I must say the people here are more welcoming and much friendlier. Way to go VJ!

Hey guys!!!!!

I just got back from my AOS interview!!!!!!! Our appointment was set for 11:30 and we got there around 11:15. We checked in at the receptionist area and were told to take a seat. 11:30 on the dot a lady came out and asked me to come back with her. When I got back to her office she swore me in. After that, she turned on a camera (I didn't know that they did that), but anyway.... back to the interview experience. She then asked me about 10 - 15 questions.... my dob, hubby dob, my ssn, when we got married, if I had met his parents, if he had met mine, where we met, how long we dated, who cooks, what dish does he like that I cook, what we did on Mothers day, what we had for dinner. <----That's all the questions that I can remember. Then she went and got hubby. She swore him in and pretty much asked him the same questions that she asked me. The only thing he couldn't remember was what we had for dinner on Sunday. Then she asked for the evidence we brought. She looked them over and asked us a few questions about pics we had brought. She then made some copies. Then she came back and said based upon the interview, she was approving us and that I should receive my green card in the mail within 2 - 3 weeks!!!!! We were so happy. If I could do carwheels, I would have definitely done a few!!!!! She then explained the whole conditions thing to us and then said we would also have the option of citizenship when the time was right.

I just wanted to share that with you guys and say thanks for all the advise so far. I will update you all once I get my green card in hand!!!! To everyone that has an interview coming up.... I pray that God blesses you with a very nice IO and that you are approved for your AOS as well!!!!

God Bless!

OK guys, today we had our interview - little more than a formality (was over and done in 10 minutes tops), and I was APPROVED without any further ado. GC should get here within the next month or so (hopefully earlier). I got the distinct impression that the IO had already decided to approve us, even before seeing the evidence we brought. Now all our anxiety of the past few days seems so silly, but we all know that's the way things are.

FEBRUARY 2009 AOS / VJ FILERS PROGRESSIVE REPORT

Ladies and Gents,

I had my Interview today, it went very well. The IO was polite, we were first sworn in, then she asked some basic questions like my name, my wife's name, date of births. She asked for our daughter's birth certificate and asked me if I have an EAD, Travel Doc etc. I gave her those, she took the I-94 out of the passport. The IO kept the I94, EAD and Travel Doc.

Typed something on the computer, Printed a form and said congrtaulations you've been approved and Green card will be mailed in next few days. That was it. I was really surprised how short and sweet the interview was. It probably took 10-12 minutes total.

Long story short....all of you out there still waiting for the Interview, go prepared and don't be nervous. Good Luck to all of you!

I am thankful to God that this long and stressful ordeal is over.

Cino: I will update my status here as soon as I recieve the card in mail.
