we got an rfe for "federal income tax information" because we didn't send in the tax transcripts with the w2 for the most recent year... what did we do wrong? did anyone else encounter this??

Yep I had an RFE for the most recent tax return, which we already supplied, being the 2007 one. I simply supplied it again but this time included the W2 for the 2008, which wasn't due at that time anyway.

They also wanted proof of income and emplyment etc, which I sent back in. I was a bit hacked off coz the intructions didn't say to include it. Should've known better and saved myself an RFE.

i'm glad i'm not the only one who had this happen to them. i don't understand what else they want aside from the w2? is that all the tax info that you sent for 2008? they already have 2007 from the k1 paperwork... do we need to send the paperwork from turbotax or something? we have asked the irs for the transcripts but they said that would take several weeks... when did you get the rfe? i hope this doesn't delay our cases for too long. :(

They asked for the most recent return, which at the time I sent off the AOS package was 2007, (the 2008 return wasn't even due in when I sent the AOS off in Feb).

When I got the RFE, they asked again for the most recently lodged tax return, which I had already sent in, being the 2007). I had heard of them with other people requesting things in an RFE that had already been supplied, so I printed out the 2007 and sent it in again, but this time I added the W2 that we had for 2008 and made a note on it to say it wasn't due in yet.

If you did yours on your computer with turbotax, did you keep a copy of what you sent in or if not can you redo it with the figures from your W2 and send that in. I sent the W2 only as the return hadn't been done at that stage.

Like a fool I didn't send in evidence of current employment or income with the original AOSpackage, it wasn't requested in the instructions......but they asked for that in the RFE as well, so we got a letter form the SO's employer and sent that in too. They signed for the letter back at the end of March and so far I haven't heard anything back so I'm hoping that did the trick.

Made me feel like sh*t getting the RFE, I'm pretty ####### with paperwork and up until then everything had gone through without a hitch. I was hoping our case would be transfered and we wouldn't have to go in for an interview. The whole Bio thing only took about 15mins from pulling up in the carpark to walking back out the door, except we had to drive 2 and a half hours to Memphis to get there, hence why I was hoping for the transfer. I could kick myself for mucking this up. :crying:

Would be interested in knowing if any other Feb filers have Memphis as their local office, to hear how their dealings went.:star:

Excellent, it looks like I was approved without interview! Just received the "Card production ordered" email

I wasn't expecting anything for quite a while :) Will post again when I receive the card so Cino can update the spreadsheet.

I also filed for an EAD (and haven't heard a single thing about that - no case status online either) but that doesn't matter now :D

Congratulations!!! :thumbs::thumbs:

Update is done. I have put EAD Receive Date rather than Approval Date.

Thanx A lot.. Please check our spreadsheet. I have been updating it 3-4 times a day.

likewise, the only tax information we had when we sent off our package was w-2 for 2008, nothing else was available so that's all we sent in. my husband did keep a copy of the docs from turbotax but we didn't send those in with the resend of the w-2, i'm thinking that perhaps we should have.

i'm exactly like you about the paperwork, i worked hard on collating it and making it easy to find the docs in the file. it seems it didn't help them though. :(

when i called to ask about it they couldn't have been any less helpful, i was told that a w-2 was sufficient and that if i really wanted to know what they wanted i'd have to make an infopass appointment and travel all the way back to new orleans to find out... i feel so unwelcome here, it sucks!

:o OMG are you serious!!........ Honestly, with the amount of illegals they keep complaining about, you'd think they'd be only too glad we're making the effort <_<

I have to say that the people here have been really nice and friendly though, one was so proud of himself because he knew NZ was somewhere up by Ireland and Scotland, I didn't have the heart to burst his bubble

How long is your drive to the New Orleans office.....is it worse than my 2.5hr drive to Memphis......lol

INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE TODAY:

Hello fellow VJers -

My husband and I went to our AOS interview today. The apt was at 8:40am in Manchester NH and they were about 50 mins late to take us in.

We brought with us a huge box with pictures, albums, papers and everything they asked us to bring on the interview letter.

The IO was an older female. She wasn't really outgoing, but not unpleasant either. She looked very serious and like she has been doing this

for years. She swore us in - and then the interview began...

She asked my husband how we met - what we do together.

She then turned and asked me my husband's birthdate - to see my Naturalization Certificate, our marriage certificate, common bills like electricity, lease,

our car insurance, health insurance... She then asked me if I decided to take my husband's name cause i filled out all my papers with my

maiden name and then I said that yes I did take his last name an showed her a copy of the letter from the SSA attesting that I changed my last name.

Asked me where I worked and what was my position/tittle - then asked us our home number and our cell phone number. Asked him if he's ever

worked illegally while he was visiting ( of course he never did. ) Then asked him how was he able to support himself when he visited me, he said that

his parents gave him some money and that I also provided a roof over his head, food and all the essentials.

She then asked my husband for his passport and she took the I-94W out of there and kept it - she asked to see the EAD and the AP - she looked

at them and returned them to us saying "You can keep those as they are valid documents". Asked also my husband his place of birth, when we got married

also asked if his parents were at the wedding and we said that we got married out of the blue and they couldn't come. She then asked him what made us

decide to get married when he was visiting - He said that we just couldn't bear being separated anymore... She said "yes, you have been away from each other quite

often..."

She then said that the I-130 is approved - but that she "is waiting for some things to come through the computer" before she could approve the I-485.

We would receive a letter informing of her decisions. She asked my husband again for our address, wrote it down on a paper. She was also "training"

an officer, he was sitting next to her and he seemed friendly.

I think its a good sign that the I-130 was approved and that she kept the I-94W from his passport. She didn't even asked us to see pictures, letters, didn't even

ask us much about anything really. It was a very formal interview, pretty cut and dry. What I think is strange is that she could approve the I-130 and not the I-485 right

then, but I also think that since she was training a new officer, maybe she needed to show him all the steps and that all is in order with him without us being there.

We were not given any RFEs either... I just wished she could have told us we were all set - but she didn't say anything negative - so we'll take this as a positive

outcome...

We hope to see the "Welcome to America" letter in the next few weeks!

-------------------------------------

Side note: Isn't it weird that she didnt want to see any pictures? She didnt want to see his BC nor mine - nothing really. The thing that shocked me is that it seems that she didn't even look through our file at all! All of the evidence that she kept asking for was already submitted! It feels to me that she didn't even check anything. It made me feel kinda strange

as like "she didn't do her homework" before meeting with us! Then couldn't even approve us on the spot even if we provided everything she requested! It angers me and make me feel like we did something wrong? The interview lasted maybe 20 mins - no RFEs either... I just want everything to be ok! :P I am dealing with a very impatient and negative hubby at the moment and its starting to make me nervous even though inside I am having a positive feeling about it all...

First, CONGRATULATIONS !.....

FYI, I-130 is only approved either by VSC or CSC.

Local IO does not have an authority to approve I-130.

I'm sure you have passed the interview.

Hang in there, next thing you are going to see in your mailbox is "Welcome Letter".

I sooo agree with Cino. Based on your interview, I don't see any reason why they would deny your application. So, yes, I have the same feeling as well.. you made it! Congratulations! ;)

lol@ nz being near ireland and scotland! was it hard to keep a straight face? i'm in ms and the people here are really nice which is great. sometimes i get the odd weird question like "have you met the queen?" which mostly makes me laugh. a girl at my husbands work asked if we had nail polish in the uk and did we celebrate easter... ;)

luckily for us new orleans is only about 1.5 hours drive from here, 2.5 hours sucks! we returned from dropping my mom off there so she could fly home only to find the rfe in our mailbox, so there was no chance of us being able to go back there for an infopass appointment. i just hope they get a move on, i'm desperate to be able to go out and work and meet people. how are you settling in to life up there?
