Interesting that Dow Chemical didn't make the list. There's a good chance that they'll go under -- they are currently so overextended and the failure of their Kuwaiti olefin deal is killing them -- especially since Rohm & Haas no has them over a barrel.

An acquaintance of mine related a conversation he had with the DOW CTO a few weeks ago where this top manager indicated that Dow could go down.

Sirius Satellite Radio. (SIRI - parent company; about 1,000 employees; stock down 96%). The music rocks, but satellite radio has yet to be profitable, and huge contracts for performers like Howard Stern are looking unsustainable. Sirius is one of two satellite-radio services owned by parent company Sirius XM, which was formed when Sirius and XM merged last year. So far, the merger hasn't generated the savings needed to make the company profitable, and Moody's thinks there's a "high likelihood" that Sirius will fail to repay or refinance its debt in 2009. One outcome could be a takeover, at distressed prices, by other firms active in the satellite business.

I can only hope this one goes titties up. No more Howard Stern in my house or in the car. Thank you lord!

That's a fitting way to describe Howard's demise too. Maybe paying his contract is what's causing them to go broke.

I hate Stern too, but I just choose not to listen to that channel. As much as I think Sirius's programming sucks I hate the thought of having to go without the service.

Who would be interested in taking them over is my question.

for Blockbuster and other movie retailer, online download, cable and satelitte movies are stiff competition but the MAJOR THREAT is REDBOX for a dollar on the machine you can rent a DVD for 24hrs, at 1st the company started in very few stores but over the past year or so they have been expending rapidly it's just a matter of time before they put these guys out of business.

The amusement Park has to lower the fees to attract people, in though economic time i doubt more people will want to go the park and shell out that kinda money specially if they have a big family.

Gone but not Forgotten!
