Interim EAD after 167 days

:bonk: Hello everyone:

Well, we are still in Limbo, and got really tired of waiting.

After a 167 day wait on the original EAD application, Liam had an appointment to pick up his Interim EAD yesterday from the West Palm Beach (FL) local CIS office. He received it and it is good for 8 months.

Still no word from MSC about the original EAD application, and the case status processing dates at the West Palm Beach office for AOS has gone from January 27 2006 (yesterday) to October 5 2005 (today). Of course, we had an RFE so our receipt date ended up being January 31 2006 for the AOS. Based on that, we thought we were getting somewhere. Well we are...nowhere, since the West Palm Beach CIS is going backwards now.

Has this happened to anyone else? How does the MSC and any other section of CIS go from being 5 months behind to 8 months behind?

I'm so enraged I don't know what to do with myself. I know it doesn't help, and I am normally quite calm, but this is certainly more ridiculous than anything I've ever dealt with.

:bonk::bonk::wacko:

Oh my...I can see your frustration with them moving backwards in time lol. That is soo horrible. Did they say anything about you EAD application when you got the interm?

Maybe an RFE didn't get to you? Lost card in the mail? I would do some more investigation work and make an infopass appointment to see what is going on. Make sure to take your receipt for your biometrics.

I'm not sure what the AOS processing dates have to do with EAD dates though...I think the timeline for AOS means nothing for EAD. In orlando (my local office) they are processing from 2004 right now for AOS and I got my EAD in 41 days.

Wish you the best!!!

My husband's EAD was taking awhile too, when we finally got it on June 2 after fighting with INS in Dallas, the next week we got approval for the regular EAD and AP also. I wondered if the action by them in the system on the interim EAD got the ball rolling back on the regular one, and the AP. It all seemed a little too "coincidental" Maybe this will happen to yours too. Wait another 2 weeks then make an info pass or something.

Hello All...

Thank you for the well wishes.

As for the regular EAD, yes, we received notice today that on June 15, it was approved (two days after issuance of the Interim EAD). It is quite the shame that you have to intervene to get a ball rolling that should have never stopped until it reached the wall.

At any rate, we will wait to see how long it actually takes to come in the mail, hopefully, only a week or two (or less, wouldn't that be a novel idea?)

LAGREENEYES...I believe you are correct, what happened to you and your husband must have happened to us too...it was sort of like "oh, I guess we better get that done after nearly 6 months."

CANADAGIRL...Thanks for the input, we will be making an infopass appointment on July 31 (which is 6 months after the USCIS received the answer to the RFE they sent us. This way, I can justify the appointment request. July 31 will be the 181 days from receipt date of January 31). According to the receipt from USCIS, "this type of case takes between 120 days and 180 days to process."

RAYMAGA...I appreciate your positive response!!! Thanks for reminding me we aren't in this alone!!! ;)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Lynn (and Liam)
