Canada's current economic situation- a comparison

Well speaking of financial comparisons, I have been sitting here this morning doing an analysis of our U.S. income and expenses vs our Canadian income and expenses. Work out for the brain.

I try not to dwell on that. It hurts too much.

As we haven't bought a house here yet, it's time for us to make a decision on whether we do stay in Florida or not (of course you already know this krikit  )

Anyhoo, I have been saying for a couple of weeks that I was going to sit down and do the math, so now I am. Regardless, we both know we are making A LOT less money here than we did in Canada - granted it is a little cheaper to live here, but still not enough to justify living in Florida.

We either make some changes, ie: buy a house and supplement this income - or we head back for Calgary.

Psh. Calgary. Do it. Now.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

U billingual frozenbutts r funny guys...

U have no power,no glamour,nobody cares about u,

even the terrorists don't bother to bomb u because u r insignificant,

u r a sort of " Mexicans on ice "

& even being in such a funny status,u dare to lecture us...

U know, most women married to short, fat, ugly, small & poor husbands, don't consider them to be such.

U have the same syndrome.

U describe your country as a paradise, yet no one bothers to obtain the immigrant visas u offer almost without requirements...

Everybody scrambles to emigrate ,legally & illegally to..."the jungle of capitalism,"...

Vous n' avez pas les qualifications pour parler plus...

I've got the TD Select Service account and as long as I keep the balance above $5000, the bank won't charge a monthly fee. If I drop below that figure (for even a second) I'll be charged $25. I've looked around and so far, that seems to be the best deal with a Canadian bank. However, the fact I need to keep any balance and be wary of monthly charges is ridiculous.

In the U.S., I was accustomed to free savings and checking accounts, both of which I neither needed to keep a balance or worry about any monthly fees. That's pretty much across the board too. It's rare to find a U.S. bank that will charge its members.

So you can imagine my surprise when I learned the difference between the banking systems.
