Republicans are starting to piss me off. They are either extremely misinformed or just down right corrupt. In a time of crisis, how the hell does giving businesses tax cuts help? The reason companies cut back in the first place is due to fallen demand. You could cut their tax rate to zero but they will not spend one dollar more unless the demand is there. Simple as that. Next thing they need to get over and out of their head is the Regan years. Different world, different era. What worked nearly 30 years ago will not work now. What also kills me is that Repubs hate socialism, fair enough, but love supporting the Military and at any price or cost. Ironically, the military is the biggest and most socialist organization of them all. 100% government run and tax payer funded.

The government needs to invest in projects that will generate short, medium and long term growth and value. In a time of crisis, tax cuts alone are not the answer. You need a booster shot to get the economy going again. Government spending on projects are the catalyst required to get the economic cycle going again. Given, this does not mean we start building roads in nobody areas just because they have traffic. We need to build infrastructure in parts of the country that will actually generate growth. We need to build for the long term, like modernizing infrastructure and building high speed rail throughout the country. Build where we want to head.

Lets also not forget the issue such as consuming too much yet not exporting enough which got us into this mess in the first place. what isn't imported anymore. Our trade deficit is simply ridiculous.

Ironically, Democrats control the Congress and Senate under Bush Administration. The Democrats supported it too. It is correct that military organization is socialism, but its for national defense. If we don't have military, I don't think we are able to sleep or to travel anywhere in the world, but limited.

Ironically,

Nope.

From 2000 - 2006, Republicans held control in both the Congress and Senate. I keep reading people here posting that misnomer a lot. I'm not sure where you guys are getting that misinformation from, but if you're not sure, look it up on Wikipedia. Secondly, when the Democrats finally gained control of Congress during the midterm elections of 2006, Bush used his veto power more than any other president in history.

And here's a little nugget of reality... (from 2006)

President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.Among the laws Bush said he can ignore are military rules and regulations, affirmative-action provisions, requirements that Congress be told about immigration services problems, ''whistle-blower" protections for nuclear regulatory officials, and safeguards against political interference in federally funded research.

Legal scholars say the scope and aggression of Bush's assertions that he can bypass laws represent a concerted effort to expand his power at the expense of Congress, upsetting the balance between the branches of government. The Constitution is clear in assigning to Congress the power to write the laws and to the president a duty ''to take care that the laws be faithfully executed." Bush, however, has repeatedly declared that he does not need to ''execute" a law he believes is unconstitutional.

On November 1, 1999, Smith announced his return to the Republican party, making the division once more 55 Republicans and 45 Democrats. Following the death of Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA) on July 18, 2000, the balance shifted again, to 54 Republicans and 46 Democrats, when the governor appointed Zell Miller, a Democrat, to fill the vacancy.

Senator Thomas A. Daschle served as majority leader at that time. Beginning on January 20, 2001, Republican Vice President Richard Cheney held the deciding vote, giving the majority to the Republicans. Senator Trent Lott resumed his position as majority leader on that date. On May 24, 2001, Senator James Jeffords of Vermont announced his switch from Republican to Independent status, effective June 6, 2001. Jeffords announced that he would caucus with the Democrats, giving the Democrats a one-seat advantage, changing control of the Senate from the Republicans back to the Democrats. Senator Thomas A. Daschle again became majority leader on June 6, 2001. Senator Paul D. Wellstone (D-MN) died on October 25, 2002, and Independent Dean Barkley was appointed to fill the vacancy. The November 5, 2002 election brought to office elected Senator James Talent (R-MO), replacing appointed Senator Jean Carnahan (D-MO), shifting balance once again to the Republicans -- but no reorganization was completed at that time since the Senate was out of session.

Those are Senate seats for one and two, it's not a majority unless it is more than 50, but the conventional wisdom is that with a Republican President, a majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives, and a plurality in the Senate, the Republicans have controlled all 3 for the better part of the Bush's two terms and had control of the House from 1994-2006 ....meaning they controlled the House during most of Clinton's and Bush's time in office. 1994 was considered the year of the Republican Revolution, when the party made huge gains across the country. They have essentially held a majority on both state and federal governments.

It's revisionist history by some Right Wingers to keep saying that Democrats controlled Congress during Bush's presidency so they share equal responsibility for where this country is right now. While there has been bipartisan support on some issues, by and large, the Republicans have steered our federal government into the ideological direction they wanted, which is why they suffered losses 2006 and 2008. But in the end, what is most telling, is who voted on what and when.

It's not so much that the Fed is trying to reward the banks - we have to keep the flow of credit going.

Wall Street and bankers are nothing but parasites getting rich off the hard working Americans. Can you look at this fact in any other way?

Ha, you buy a house that can't even last 15 years and pay the bank over twice it's value in a 30 year mortgage, do the math.

The banking industry needs an overhaul in terms of regulations and oversight - which I believe Obama, along with his cabinet will be working on.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
