Dear all,

Another question about the I-751 form here (removal of conditions). I put a list up here about what I've filed. Sorry for the second topic but this is a quick question (I hope) and might get lost in that extremely long post/thread.

The instructions to complete the form state that 'the documents should cover, but not limited to, the following examples:

5. Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by at least two people who have known both of you since your condition residence was granted and have personal knowledge of your marriage and relationship'

Does this have to be notarized? We have a typed letter with a signature from one person. I guess this wouldn't be enough? Would someone who is a known member of the community and my wife's mother be good enough for this purpose? I'd rather not ask them to go down to a notary public in this weather, but if we have to, we have to.

Thanks a lot,

Mark

I didn't send any letter/affidavit from a friend or known us as a couple, instead i sent a postal mail envelope that was addressed to both of us and some in our individual name on it as a proof that we live in the same address. Everything went smoothly and got approved.

The affidavits are not required but we got them to strengthen our evidence.

Getting them notarized is the easy part, since it can usually be done at the local bank-- the hard part is the writing! The letters we got ended up not very detailed so we're not sure if they will help our application too much.

I think our friends are just not very comfortable with writing as they are more numbers-oriented people and it was a challenge for them to come up with the letters. We tried to give them a basic template (modeled on VJ example) and they pretty much followed the template.

Our application is still pending so we'll see how USCIS perceived this piece of evidence!

I filed an I-751 waiver without any affidavits and got approved with no interview. You don't have to include them, unless you really want to, for whatever reason.

Filed AOS from F-1
Green Card approved on 01/04/07
Conditions removed 01/29/09

Citizenship Oath 08/23/12

We had friends and family do affidavits and I believe they helped. We only have a couple of bills in our names together and just the checking account. Yes, you have to have a notary witness them being signed.
