Hehe, these stories are great! I'm amazed at how many of us have accidentally fallen in love with people we've met on video games.

My almost-husband and I are both members of an NHL message board, so we said a few words to each other on the board during the Canucks/Stars playoff series in '07, but that was about it. After the series was over, there was a discussion on the board about video games, and I posted my Xbox Gamertag on there, and I eventually received a friend request from him which said something like 'hey, it's so-and-so from the hockey board', so I accepted it. Then one day we were both on Xbox Live at the same time, so I sent him a message to see if he wanted to try a game of NHL 07. It took forever to get the game servers to cooperate long enough to finish an actual game, but we kept trying. He seemed like a cool guy, and I thought his accent was hilarious, so we had a good time talking while his Dallas Stars were beating the ####### out of my Vancouver Canucks. We'd send each other messages through the hockey board to coordinate game times, and eventually he downloaded MSN messenger and we talked on there occasionally. After a while, we were talking pretty much every day, and eventually exchanged phone numbers and stuff. We both thought there was some kind of a spark, but we tried to be realistic about things and just tried to ignore it, but that didn't work very well. Eventually, last spring, I decided to take a road trip for a few weeks to go see him. I figured that if I got there and it felt weird, I would just drive off somewhere else, enjoy the rest of my vacation, and that would be fine. Disappointing, but fine. But of course it wasn't weird at all, and we had a really amazing time together. It was so hard to drive away!! And now here we are, preparing for our wedding on Friday!

lol mine is almost the same as yours. except we both post on a poker forum and play online. i got an xbox and added friends from the board, he was one of them. We started playing GOW nonstop together, i was obviously a sucker for the accent. I guess the only difference about my visit to meet him the first time, i never drove away and got married and hibernated in canada until we got to go to the US. and yes, we're a bit crazy lol

**Sigh** We go to real casinos  Maybe I am out of touch, but you just cannot beat the energy of a real gamble

lol well poker isn't rly gambling since you're beating the player not the house. just avoid online blackjack and you're ok lol. we go to real casinos too, but will usually go to places with a poker room of course. online is cheaper since they rake less, but its faster.

I love reading these stories!!

Essentially Buddy and I first met in a room on IRC in 2005. A good friend of mine had invited me into the room so I went in and found a bunch of other people I had known as well, and some I hadn't. Buddy being one of them. We were all members of a world wide music forum (tranceaddict.com) But our paths never really crossed on the forum. We talked a bit, exchanged msn, flirted a bit but I guess it just wasn't meant to happen at that time in our lives. Fast forward to February 2008 (A year ago!) I find this really cute pug and its licking the page, its called the screen cleaner, and its funny. I send it to practically everybody on my msn list, Buddy included. Hes there and we start chatting. At the same time, he turns the pug into a file so I can make it my screen saver, and we joke around that this pug brought us together because we haven't stopped talking since :) The messages went from MSN to texting to phoning. He came to Toronto for the first time in March, and now were discussing our visa options :D

These stories are fabulous. And I am especially glad I learned about WoW ..... it really is like reading a foreign language when people post about it.

When hubby was living in Vancouver, we would have date night and play chess online against each other on Pogo (and I kicked his AZZ!!!!). Now, he spends his online time playing some pirate game and I hang out on VJ! WoW actually sounds like something I would enjoy, except for the fact that I have a very active 9 month old and limited computer time :)

The best part is you can do it all in your own time. There are no save points so you can quit whenever the baby is hungry or whatever and pick up when you have time.

Jim & I met on Cupid.com...yes, both looking for love! He sent me a funny note, very catchy...a line that I hadn't heard before. We exchanged a few notes thru Cupid & I told him that this couldn't work as I couldn't move (my family would have (and did!) made it almost impossible to take my son to the US) but we could be friends. We both knew that there was "something" there as right off the bat, we were typing the same things to eachother in our chat window at the same time! Honestly, it was strange, we still think the same things at the same time, finish eachothers sentences, etc. We met online Feb 24, 2007, I flew (for the first time ever) to California end of June 2007, got engaged at that time, a month later was my second trip & got married the next day...Aug 1, 2007! As you see by my timeline, 11 months later and the K3 came thru...Jim drove 2000 miles to get us and we were HOME on June 29th! Over 30 hrs of driving & we talked the entire way! Not one disagreement along the way...my 16 yr old son in the back of the Tahoe watched movies the entire time.

So, after bad marriages (1 for me, more for Jim) and bad relationships & really crappy dates, I finally found my soulmate!

Nice to hear everyone's stories, thank you for starting this thread!

hugz...

My fiance and I met in Greater Faydark . . . Ok I know that makes sense to no one but the few who play EQ2, but it's true!

Sean and I both play a nerdy MMORPG called EverQuest 2 (EQ2). I joined the guild that he was in sometime in January 2007 (after taking a two year break from the game). On February 9th, 2007 his character, Sanction, was nice enough to help my alt and another guild member with a few low-level quests. A few days later my main character, Arabella (hence my forum name) and Sanction both helped someone with a quest mob and before we knew it we were working on quests together every night until midnight.

We would talk in "tells" and eventually he started calling me on the phone or we would talk on Ventrillo or Teamspeak. We would listen to music, I would sing (he loves my singing lol) and share about our lives. Out of all of my in-game friends, he was the most constant, the most sincere, the one I enjoyed spending time with the most. He and I would email back and forth at work to plan our nights of game-playing, and somewhere along the line we discovered that we had "real" feelings for eachother. He said he fell in love with me before he met me (awwww!). I knew I loved him and cared for him deeply, but I was skeptical that if we met we might find that our feelings weren't real afterall.

Fast-forward to April of 2008. Sean bought a plane ticket to come down to Florida to meet me (gulp) over our summer break (I am a school counselor and have the summers off)! He was so certain that we'd hit it off (at least as friends) that his return flight was 17 days later! Well on July 11th, 2008 a very nervous Floridian drove to the Orlando airport to meet an equally nervous Canadian. It was love at first sight!! We both instantly knew that we would love each other in person as well as through our emails, phone calls, letters, gifts, and in-game interactions. Since our first meeting in July, I have seen Sean every month except for August. We are able to maintain our long distance relationship quite well, even though we miss each other terribly.

In November I bought a plane ticket to visit Sean in Canada for Valentine's Day weekend (he told me that he never had a Valentine before). We had a fantastic weekend and he surprised me with a gorgeous engagement ring! It was a princess-cut center diamond (he calls me his princess) with a blue topaz heart on either side (his birthstone).

So we are still raiding 4 nights a week and we also read books together over the computer, email tons during the day, visit as often as possible, and enjoy all of the time we spend together. We are so happy to be getting married in the next year!!!

This is a picture of Sanction & Arabella, our characters on EQ2

Sanction is a level 80 high-elf Fury (druid healer) and Arabella is a level 80 high elf Wizard!

My story's a bit complicated and doesn't involve WoW or any other MMORPG.

I had a friend who dated a guy from Michigan. I became friends with guy from Michigan. My friend and Michigan dude broke up. Michigan dude moved to South Carolina with his new girlfriend after that. I was still friends with Michigan dude. Michigan dude and newgirlfriend were looking to find roommates and ended up moving to Oklahoma with some guy. I was talking to Michigan dude and ended up chatting with his roommate. "Some guy" turned out to be named Kori. I wasn't looking for a relationship. In fact, I had sworn off dating after a really bad relationship.

Kori was really sweet about it and admitted to be into me, but I wasn't ready. So he said he'd hang and he'd do whatever and wait until I was ready, if I ever was. We kept chatting and he became my best friend really quickly and it wasn't too long before I went "I love you." Only, I was scared as anything to admit it, so I said it in French, because I knew he didn't speak French.

And now, here we are, on the road to me moving down.

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

Wow, these stories are amazing. For years Bill and I thought we were the weird exception to the dating rule: meeting on the internet and actually finding love. I see now that we are just one of many! By the looks and comments I get from people sometimes you'd think it was rare!

We met online in 2005 on a website called thepitsonline.com. It doesn't exist anymore, but it was a website for NASCAR fans... It was based on this comic by a man name Doug who used to make really really funny spoofs of nascar drivers and events. I was a member there for months before I even talked to my fiance Bill. One day someone on the board decided to create a msn chatroom for everyone to talk and get to know each other... being the computer loser I am, I couldn't figure out how to join and get in! So then the man running the chat stole my e-mail from my userprofile, added me to MSN, and explained step by step how to get in! We talked for a couple months, casually, and I had a huge crush on him but he didn't seem to notice... or care. He was just so funny and charming, plus he shared my love for fast cars, and he was even living in North Carolina attending nascar school! But, I had never seen a picture of him... I used to bug him all the time to get a camera and take a picture because I had secret suspicion that he was cute, even though he promised me he wasn't. Well he got a webcam instead, and dang, he was a totally cutie  So... being irrational and a little crazy I got a webcam too... and casually mentioned we should webcam chat one afternoon. Well we talked for hours, and hours talking about everything and nothing. After that we were both hooked!

About 3 months later we met in person in NY state. We found out we also share a common love lot of roller coasters ... and each other

My husband and I met traveling in Cambodia.

We were both solo backpacking. I was just getting off the bus from crossing the Vietnamese border.

The bus dropped me in front of this tourist restaurant. It was late and I needed a suggestion on a place to stay.

So I headed into the restaurant and scanned the crowd for the cutest Westerner that I could find.

I approached Matthew and the first thing I said was "Do you speak English?"

Thankfully, he had good advice and showed me to a guest house down the road.

We had a late dinner and exchanged travel tips, currency and emails, as he was heading the way that I just came from.

Then we went our separate ways.

A month later through email we planned to meet up in Laos for New Years, and we've stuck with each other ever since (of course, with a few long-distance gaps in between).

awww that is sweet. I had gone browsing with Wes because he wanted to get one I would love, I think there was about 6-8 total that I liked, he picked one I didnt remember trying on, but its gorgeous! The day after I had taken him out for a steak and lobster dinner (I went there for my xmas party and he said it sounded yummy so I promised him to take him there when he came down). The waitress noticed it and we ended up having other waitress's and the managers come over to congratulate us, ended up with free dessert lol.
