Hehe, these stories are great! I'm amazed at how many of us have accidentally fallen in love with people we've met on video games.

My almost-husband and I are both members of an NHL message board, so we said a few words to each other on the board during the Canucks/Stars playoff series in '07, but that was about it. After the series was over, there was a discussion on the board about video games, and I posted my Xbox Gamertag on there, and I eventually received a friend request from him which said something like 'hey, it's so-and-so from the hockey board', so I accepted it. Then one day we were both on Xbox Live at the same time, so I sent him a message to see if he wanted to try a game of NHL 07. It took forever to get the game servers to cooperate long enough to finish an actual game, but we kept trying. He seemed like a cool guy, and I thought his accent was hilarious, so we had a good time talking while his Dallas Stars were beating the ####### out of my Vancouver Canucks. We'd send each other messages through the hockey board to coordinate game times, and eventually he downloaded MSN messenger and we talked on there occasionally. After a while, we were talking pretty much every day, and eventually exchanged phone numbers and stuff. We both thought there was some kind of a spark, but we tried to be realistic about things and just tried to ignore it, but that didn't work very well. Eventually, last spring, I decided to take a road trip for a few weeks to go see him. I figured that if I got there and it felt weird, I would just drive off somewhere else, enjoy the rest of my vacation, and that would be fine. Disappointing, but fine. But of course it wasn't weird at all, and we had a really amazing time together. It was so hard to drive away!! And now here we are, preparing for our wedding on Friday!

We're another WoW couple. We met in August/September 2006. WoW was my first and pretty much only MMORPG. I also started playing because an ex of mine got me into it. We were in the same guild and after my ex and I broke up, hubby and I started talking a little bit more. He was SO sweet to me and would help me whenever I needed it. He flew up to Edmonton to meet me Christmas 2006. Fast forward, our interview was approved and visa granted, and I moved down to Idaho April 2008. We don't play WoW anymore but when we did I was a NE Druid and he was a human Warlock. I tried to play a few other MMORPG's since we stopped playing WoW but it just isn't the same. I sure am glad I decided to play that game for my jerk of an ex-bf!!!! :)

lol mine is almost the same as yours. except we both post on a poker forum and play online. i got an xbox and added friends from the board, he was one of them. We started playing GOW nonstop together, i was obviously a sucker for the accent. I guess the only difference about my visit to meet him the first time, i never drove away and got married and hibernated in canada until we got to go to the US. and yes, we're a bit crazy lol

I started playing to play with my ex as well, and he ended up ignoring me ingame and out. It was refreshing with Wes cuz he will help me with anything, neither of us will group without each other unless we know the other isn't going to be on.

We met on the interweb, on a video game called City of Heroes.

It's funny cause if it hadn't been for my ex buying the game and hating it...Nick and I never would have met.

We now play WoW together.

We actually quit trailmix because my husband was sick and tired of it. It wasn't much fun for me to play without him, so I quit too. He's gone back to Final Fantasy and plays that all the time now. I usually watch tv or read or something! :) Sometimes I really do miss it though. I was just finally getting good at it!

we met indirectly thru the internet. I had met a group of folks from all points of the US, including Alaska, that found each other on a triathlon forum. we were all getting ready for the inaugural Ironman Wisconsin back in 2002. a few of us really hit it off (the 'evil chatters' that have since been banned from that forum! LOL) and kept in touch after that and every year we pick a race and as many as possible go, with the race not being as important as the fun.

in 2004 we were heading to Memphis, and the gomer from Louisiana said he was going to bring a friend. ok, no worries, we are a fairly harmless bunch. Well hello! he was a hottie! Annie from GA almost fell over when she saw him during the race. After that we kept in touch via the phone and email and he came out to Wisconsin to watch me race there in September. While there he invited me to go to Hawaii to watch him race in the Xterra World Championships in October. Never one to pass up a good vacation, I went and we have been together ever since.

He actually proposed to me the night after a 1/2 Ironman that he came up to do with me the following summer.

So that is how this hockey loving, snow loving Canadian wound up with a super southern boy.

Can someone explain the premise of WoW to me? I don't get it.... I guess I could just wikipedia it... I'm really intrigued though... seems like a cool game to be a part of.

Basically its a fantasy world with 2 sides (factions), horde and alliance. They fight against each other a lot (you'll notice the Horde vs Alliance already lol). There are races on each side, and certain classes that each can be. You team up with other people on your faction to either 1) kill the other faction or 2) PvE (player vs enemy) where you kill bosses to get better gear...the better gear the better you preform. Most people do these teams as guilds...In said guilds you have a list of all the people in your guild, you can group with them to do different stuff, talk to them either in guild, in a party (group) or in private messages. The goal no matter if you pick 1 or 2 is to be the best!!! Have the best gear, kill the most people, die the least etc. and to make friends.

Theres a lot of lore behind it too that I didnt really get into. I picked a Night Elf druid (alliance) because she was pretty and not a cow... only one race on each side can be a druid. I wanted to turn into a kitty (one of the druid abilities) and NE's also get cats as mounts....I like kitties.

We meet on line in Feb or March of 2001 at a card playing site (pinochle, hearts, spades, cribbage, etc) called iplay. I was a moderator and we ended up being pinochle partners, eventually I asked if Carnell was his first of last name he typed "1" a few weeks later I asked if he was male or female again he typed "m". Eventually, we started playing canasta and chatting. One weekend in May he went poof, I was upset that he wasn't there to play as we had a standing "date" to play cards at 8 pm. On the Monday he came on and asked for my phone number as his internet was off all weekend and he really felt disconnected. By June, I knew I had to meet him and arranged to fly to LA from Vancouver in August. He was everything he said he was :) Now we are in the final progress of being together but we play bridge now on line, it is more challenging.
