I've tried WoW and I didn't like it. I have plenty of friends who're addicted. My wife and I prefer Guild Wars. :D

Anyway... my wife and I met on an official (and by official, I mean company-run) message board for different Sierra On-Line adventure games. The one forum in which we had the most interaction was for a game called Gabriel Knight. I spent most of my time in the Starsiege forum while she did the same with the Quest For Glory forum.

Fast forward a few years and we got to talking in a chat room. We spoke privately and formed a relationship. I then decided I'd like to visit her. She thought that was a great idea. So I did. After that we began visiting each other, but had to space it all out due to work and cost. Traveling from Texas to Canada (or vice-versa) can be a pricey situation.

Obviously the relationship progressed and we eventually got married. Around August of 2008, I immigrated to Canada since doing so is a lot faster than the other way around.

Wow so many of you met your loves online, that's neat! Imagine the days before the internet?

Well I (worked) for a shipping company in Toronto. We have many offices all over the world, it's container shipping and we go everywhere. One office that we deal with the most is the Philly office. I made bookings in the customer service dept, and Glen in Philly is the logistics co-ordinator. Many times I had to call him and ask if we had equipment in Philly that I could book for my customers, and if there was space on a certain vessel. Well this goes back to 2005, we'd chat it up since we were around the same age, ask what he did that past weekend, make small talk. He was so sweet and friendly on the telly and sounded hot but what does a voice tell you, not much about looks haha. So his boss really appreciated all the hard work myself and my co-worker Mel did, and invited us to come to the 2006 company Christmas party in Philly, all expenses paid! I was pretty excited to go, meet everyone I talk to on the telly but especially Glen. I picked out a black strapless dress, I wanted to make a good impression. So off we go to Philly, and arrived Friday afternoon, in time for a tour of the office. In the office they all have tags on their desk, and I saw who was Glen so went right up and gave him a hug. He was on the telly though so we couldn't chat, but I said to myself, damn he's good looking!!

Got changed in the hotel, went to the party. I walk in and see Glen standing alone at the bar waiting for his beer, so I went right up to introduce myself properly this time. There was an instant connection and sparks, we both felt it. He was so easy to talk to, and the entire night we danced and chatted. I barely spoke to anyone else LOL. Well we said our goodbyes and nice to meet you, I had to fly home the next morning. I couldn't get him out of my head, but said to myself this is silly, he lives in Philly nothing can come of this. But Monday morning back at work, I e-mailed him to say how wonderful it was to meet him and I enjoyed his company, he said the same. NY eve was coming soon, so I asked for his cell # so I could text him happy new year. Well from that day forward, we texted non-stop and called eachother. I ended up coming back in February, and we ended up seeing eachother once a month until I moved here! It was fate how we met, because I was invited to the party to meet my future husband!!

Awwwwwwwwwwww. That's such a sweet story, Jill. :luv:

....It was fate how we met, because I was invited to the party to meet my future husband!!

That is so cute JillA!

I met my husband through Yahoo Member Directories back in November of 2001. I was looking for someone to befriend that would later be able to fix my computer if any such problems would arise (hey, it's always good to have a computer geek, mechanic, lawyer, and doctor as good friends right? lol Though my older brother is the computer genius in the family, we weren't exactly the best of friends through the teenage years...).

I searched the directory for "computer" to see what screen-names would come up. The one that caught my eye was "Computer-Wizmaster", mostly because he was around my age, and not some old prune. (I should mention that he was located in Philadelphia) I sent him a message and we talked casually. I later found out that even though he is a computer genius, he was merely trying to edit his profile on Yahoo, not come up with a new screen name, and that the "Computer-Wizmaster" screen-name was a mistake and was never meant to exist. I was the only person to ever contact him on that screen name and I like to say it was a bit of Divine Intervention that brought us together. So at the ripe age of 15, I met my future husband, online. At the time he liked this girl at his school and I was trying to encourage him to atleast speak with her, he says I was so kind that he just forgot all about this other girl and focussed on me  . Eventually he started introducing me to his online friends (he had his own IRC chat room at the time) as his "girlfriend" and I guess it just stuck.

Then in May of 2002, he was invited by his school teachers to chaperone the freshmen (9th graders) to Niagara Falls, ON. His school has NEVER gone to Niagara Falls, ON before, and I'm fairly certain they have never gone since. Since Niagara Falls is only like an hour away from where I was living, it was the perfect excuse to go see him for the first time in person! I weasled my older cousin (who was living with us at the time) to drive me down to Niagara Falls after school and we told my mother that we were going to Niagara Falls to celebrate Queen Victoria Day (which was a few days prior). He was a few hours late, which just added to the anxiousness of the whole situation, but eventually he arrived. Our visit was a brief 3 hours or so, but that first kissed sealed the deal!

And that's how we met :) Been together 7 years now and are finally living together :D

Well my story is a bit different, we did meet online but it was a friends' site called Tickle. I was in the U.S. on an F-1 visa from 2002-2008, I met him online in late 2004, chatted online got to know each other for about 3 months and finally had the guts to meet him in person in February 2005. I had just broken up with a guy I had been dating so I was kind of heart broken but he was really sweet about it, I guess you could said Feb 14th is our anniversary as he brought over chocolates, flowers and a big teddy bear to cheer me up! That's when I started falling head over heels! I knew he was something special when he talked online through messenger we just "clicked" way better than the guy I was dating at the time but I didn't want to admit it! LOL We have been together ever since! I lived with him for almost a year, I know what he's gonna be like to live with after we get married! LOL! Too bad we didn't marry and file AOS while I was in the US, but we just were not in the right place to do it, too many other things going on!

My boyfriend & I met in the summer of 2007 at the provicial championships in Guelph(we shoot competitively). Met up again at another shoot in Michigan in September & started dating in October.

We did the long distance dating of a 4 hour drive for 10 months. For the last 5 1/2 months we've been 1 hour's drive away cause I moved closer to the border.

Joe and I both joined the same spiritual teachings forum around the same time in 2001 - the Michael Teachings. I liked his posts because I felt he had a lot of good things to say and I generally agreed with what he wrote. After September 11, he and some of the other members started a meditation night to help deal with the emotional aftermaths. I joined that meditation night chat about a year later and got to know Joe better there. In January, 2003 I had problems with my computer. I remembered that Joe worked with computers so I IMed him and asked if he could help. We worked on the problem (only partially solved it, hehehehe) and stayed and chatted a little bit afterwards. He IMed me the next night to see if the problem was resolved and we chatted some more - 5 hours on line, in fact. Then we started to IM each other every night and about 3 weeks later we started to phone call each other. We fell in love before either of us knew what was happening. We decided that we needed to meet in person to see if this was 'real' or an internet romance only. He offered to either fly me down to Atlanta or he would fly up to Detroit and I would pick him up at the airport and bring him 'home'. We decided on the latter since I figured it was safer to be on home territory in case there were problems. Well, in person was even better than on line! I flew down to Atlanta the following month and he proposed. We filed the immigration papers the following month and then alternated back and forth about every 6 weeks for visits. My only real regret is that my Mom never got to meet him - she went into hospital the weekend we became engaged and died less than a month later.

I am normally very reluctant to tell anyone how I met my finace because it's so incredibly dorky... but we're also a WoW couple.

We randomly picked him up for a UBRS run, or something like that, and then ended up offering him a spot in our guild. He first struck me as cocky and not my type. One of the first times we talked on Ventrilo, I remember thinking that he talks way too much and never shuts up. After a while, we started noticing that we had a lot in common and started talking on the phone. One of our first conversations lasted 9 hours straight, no exageration. We decided that we should meet about 3 months after we started talking, so I went down to Arkansas for what was supposed to be 2 weeks. I was supposed to come back home for my University graduation, but I ended up staying for an additional 2 weeks. He was driving to L.A. to a co-op position he had in the summer, so I bought a new return ticket from L.A. and went with him. Since I had just graduated and had no long-term plans at the time, when he was done with the co-op, I returned to L.A. and we drove back to Arkansas, stopping in Las Vegas for a few days. I stayed in Arkansas for 3 months. I found a job when I got home so we were unable to see each other as often or for extended periods of time.

Neither of us play WoW anymore. It was my first and only MMORPG. I'm glad that I played it though. :)

Lol its not dorky at all!. When I first met Wes I was new to the guild, trying to prove myself. He was in the guild as a friend rank. He was dating someone else at that time and we barely spoke but after a little while he would put things like "Wtb Canadian" in his vent comment. He would do all kinds of wierd and silly things but as he had a girl friend I really didn't think much of it. Little did I know he was having the same issues I had in my relationship and in January 2008 he opened up to me about them. We would talk over MSN for awhile, his relationship finally ended in Feb..on valentines day >< I helped him through it and told him he was better off, and I guess somehow managed to worm my way into his heart (though he says that he was intregued by me long before this because he thought I was pretty cool all around). When I mentioned I was going to SD to visit a mutual friend, also from wow, he took 2 weeks off of work and booked a hotel...spent the whole 2 weeks hanging out with my sister and me. It was an instant connection and it only took about 3 days for me to realize that not being with him was going to hurt really bad. Thats when he told me if it were possibly he would let me move in right then and there. Its amazing how the internet brings people together!

Kathryn - I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure she watches over you though and is very happy that you found that special someone that makes you so unbelievably happy.
