Ghost Hunters

We live about 1.5hrs from Gettysburg, and have in fact gone Ghost Hunting on more than one occasion. If you want to see Ghost Hunters Galore, go on the the last Saturday before they change the time of the park hours back to 6pm from 10pm.

We went, and OH MY GOD. When we were driving along through the Battlefield looking up at Little Round Top, I swear, it looked like there was a lightening storm up there with all of the camera flashes going off!

I've had a couple of experiences in G'Burg, like the little boy who haunts the Farnsworth Inn, flicked my glasses up from behind my ears

I Love Gettysburg, and recommend it as a vacation destination for anyone...if you like ghosts or not :P

That sounds interesting. I'd like to do that at some point.

I'd have to imagine the most haunted places in the world would be battlefields. How many people died there? I don't know for sure (since different battles took place in different areas), but if ghosts exist, a place where tons of people died -- and in horrible ways -- would be a good area to haunt.

Depending how sensitive you are to such things, a battlefield may or may not be a place you'd want to check out. If you're supersensitive, you may become overwhelmed.

I want to go to Ghettysburg, hubby doesn't. As a veteran himself, he thinks it may be too overwhelming for him. Which I can understand, so I guess I will just have to go with someone else.

Anybody? :D

I figure anything that is up in the air flying and I can't identify it, it's a UFO.

OK, well, ya'll know some of the stories I told on the other thread about my haunted houses. So here is the climax to the whole story. My ex husband and I had separated and I had the kids for the weekend, so he was home alone in the haunted house. When I returned with the kids at the end of the weekend, he pulled me aside and told me what had happened. We had one of those plastic towel racks above the toilet. Whoever lived there before had put it up. It was useless because if you put a towel on it, it would drape onto the toilet. So my ex mainly used it to put things on like his shaving cream can. Now this is a very thick, strong towel rack. Not flimsy. He said he was in the living room and he heard a crash from the bathroom. He ran in there and the towel rack had broken and everything was on the floor. I asked him if it was still there. He was so spooked he hadn't touched anything since it happened! So I went in there to look at it. I picked up the pieces and it had actually been broken in TWO places, approximately equal distance apart. I tried to bend it to see if it was flexible in any way, and it wasn't. Besides, he had only put light things on it, like his shaving cream can. The fact that it broke in two different places is what freaked me out. There's now way that was a break from stress. Then later, as he was getting ready to move, he said the house didn't want him to leave. Everytime he tried to walk out the door, he had to struggle with the door knob to get it open. He said nobody else had any problem walking out that door. Only him. Spooooky. I'm glad he got out of there!

Awe.. I (L) Charleston...

This will be my first trip there. It's got a few of my favourite things. History. Pirates. And ghosts. And there's an aircraft carrier for James ;)

Hopefully the weather will be nice and not rainy, so that we can maybe get some photos and video while we're there.

Hey... if you guys are ever in Houston, stop on by the Battleship Texas. It's not only one of the longest lasting ships in the U.S. Navy (1910-1948), but it's supposedly haunted as well. I've been to the U.S.S. Texas before and although I've never seen anything "supernatural", it's still pretty cool. Even my wife thought so and she has no interest in the military at all. :star:

Ohhhh, yeah, we spent the night on the USS Texas with my son's cub scout group. But we didn't see or hear any ghosts on that trip.

OK and this is not about ghosts, but close. :-P My son was about 2 or 3 years old. I was late for my monthly visitor ;-), and was afraid I might be pregnant. I did not want to be pregnant at that time. However, I didn't say anything to anybody, not even my husband about it. So one day, I'm sitting in the rocking chair with my son in my lap. All of a sudden he pats me on the stomach and he says "don't worry mommy, no baby there". Freaked me out! And sure enough, I wasn't pregnant as I found out shortly after.

That's the kind of place I like, places that you can just feel the history as soon as you get there. It gives a place character, makes it feel homey or something. Maybe that's why the ghost stick around? ;)

I just wanted to bump this back up so I could find it again. I have to transfer our photos from the cameras to my computer, so I will post a pic I caught at one of the cemeteries we visited. It has something rather interesting in it.

We went on a ghost walk around the old part of the city on Friday night, and boy was it cold out! most of my pics are blurry because I was shivering, and that doesn't work too well with a slow shutter for night shots, but it was an interesting walk I will admit. Ghosts and history all rolled into one, and our guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable.

We went back along some of the route the following day, to see the places in day light, and got daylight pics.

We also went to Fort Sumter, and the aircraft carrier Yorktown, and a sub, and a Coast Guard ship. All really interesting stuff, and a lot of walking! Not nearly enough time on Fort Sumter, they only allow you one hour to see the entire fort. It's small, but could do with at least half a day anyway!

Anyhoo...I will post ghostie pics as soon as I get it transfered :)

ok, here's my one ghostie pic. Almost in the centre of the photo, kneeling in front of a headstone. You might have to adjust your screen if you have it tilted funny.
