Blame Krikit for this one! ;)

Ok, for all you ghost hunters and paranormal freaks, tell us your ghost stories here, and what would you do if you were a member of a ghost hunting team. Would you be more like TAPS, or more like Paranormal State?

Me, I'm a TAPS kinda gal. I look to try and debunk things in a more scientific manner than just walk in somewhere and go "ooooooo, I feel something evil is here" ;)

I grew up in a haunted house, and the house I'm in now is haunted by my father-in-law. He died here in the house about 4 years ago, and he wanders around every now and again still. He even fixed the overhead light in the kitchen one day while we were out! :)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

I don't watch that show but I just asked my son and he said...Taps. :P

Our house in Midland was haunted as I said before. I watched lights turn on by themselves, taps turning on by themselves, and shadows, lots of shadows you'd see from the corner of your eye. When Mike moved in with me there, we moved my son into another room, and took his old room and turned my room into an office for our computers.

Anyways one night, we both woke up and it sounded like something dragging something heavy across the floor in that room. Mike held on to me for dear life and the poor guy was so afraid. I have to admit I was pretty scared too, but I was semi-used to that stuff happening. I will say this, whatever it was it didn't like Mike being there because after he moved in, it got really spooky.

My son also predicted my grandfathers death and knew he was dying before any of us. There was some weird connection they had. It was really scary. He was only 4 when all of this happened, he even told us the month and it happened in that month. That was messed up.

Interesting, Sprailenes. I've got stories like that. I think I may have told this one already? My friend and her husband were lying in bed one morning. They hadn't heard the baby wake up, yet, so they were lying there talking. All of a sudden her father appeared at their door and said "It's alright. He's with me." And then he disappeared. They looked at each other in shock and her husband said "Did you just see that?" (He'd never met her father so had no idea who he was.) They jumped up and ran into the baby's room and he had passed during the night. Crib death. She told me that the whole thing scared the life out of her but she feels somewhat comforted by that visit.

I'm positive that the house I grew up in was NOT haunted...even though I kind of secretly wanted it to be :P

As a kid though, in my grandfather's house in Toronto (where my dad grew up) I was told that I would stare up at the third floor. Later, my dad told me of how when he was younger, he woke up one night to see his brother floating above his bed. Freaked him out, but what could he do...so he went back to sleep. The light up there would also turn on by itself, and when my dad was living on the third floor by himself he thought he heard his brother come home from work, talking away in the rooms below him. He went down there and there was nothing there.

Now, as I kid, I was both scared and fascinated by what he told me. As I got older, I had a hard time believing what he had told me was true. UNTIL, I was reading the Toronto Sun around Hallowe'en, and they were talking about some of the most haunted homes in Toronto. And while they didn't mention the EXACT address, I KNEW it was the home where my dad grew up. Same street, and well...owned by a doctor who had a son whom he locked away because he was mentally handicapped. These old Victorian homes had two staircases; one main staircase, and a back staircase that went up to the third floor. The Doctor had blocked off the third floor and locked away his son on the Third floor where he had died. My dad's house had the back staircase, Blocked off! Yup, freaked me out!

I've got more too...more personal to me.

I have goosebumps!

That is super scary.

Once I left our house in Midland, people would move in and out right away. No one has lasted there a year. We lived there for 6

Holy smokes! Too bad we didn't start this at Hallowe'en.

I remember when I was younger my Dad got very sick so he was sleeping in my room and I was sleeping with my Mum. One night I heard my Mum get up and go into my father's (my) room and she was crying. I thought that she was upset because they were concerned he'd have to go into the hospital. And then the phone rang. It was my aunt in England calling to say my grandfather (Mum's father) had passed away. It turns out my Mum had woken up and saw my grandfather standing there in the bedroom looking at her, so she had gone in to see my Dad to tell him about it. It wasn't until the phone rang that we knew he had passed.

I've tried watching Ghost Hunters, but TAPS team didn't hold my attention (which is admittedly very short). As I said in a previous thread, I like ghost stories, but usually they're a bit more varied than the kind shown with TAPS.

The closest thing I've ever had to a supernatural encounter was a hypnagogic hallucination. It freaked me out a little at the time.

I think UFOs (or rather, alien life) is far more plausible than ghosts or anything else supernatural. There has to be life somewhere out there, on some other planet. Whether or not they've visited us at some point is anyone's guess. One thing about UFO sightings that seem weird to me is that they appear out in the middle of nowhere. A UFO will spring up, a let a farmer see it and mutilate the cows. Does that make a whole lot of sense?

Hmm, my family are all believers, I think we've all had something happen to us. There are a couple I'll mention though:

I worked at a group home in Miramichi for teens that were in the care of the province or on "breaks" from their families. The house was in the country and it was quite old. They told me when I started that the older man who used to own it haunted it because he had built it himself, and he would watch out for the house. I think he stuck around because sometimes the kids would tear the place up (holes in the walls, broken windows etc) and he would get cranky. Anyway. I didnt really believe it until one night I was working an overnight shift after a very bad day with the kids. My shift partner had dozed off, but I was awake,(on the 2nd floor). I heard the kitchen screen and metal door open (I had dead bolted both), and I heard someone pacing the hall at the bottom of the stairs. I was scared it was an actual person, so I woke my partner up and we went down. The door was still locked, but there were wettish footprints in the hall by the stairs. It was freezing as well, but nothing had been moved or taken. I think he just wanted to see how bad the house was torn up

The other one was an experience my grandfather had. When my uncle was smal;, my grandfather would tell him stories, not always from books, sometimes just making them up. One night when my uncle was about 4 years old, my grandfather asked him to tell the story that night. My uncle started telling the story of a solider (my grandfather was in the army in the 2nd WW), but then my uncle started mentioning names of other soldiers, the place they were in Germany, and described in detail a bad day in the trenches where there had been the fatalities due to German bombs - as one of the soldiers who had served with my grandfather and died in battle. My grandfather couldn't say anything, because there was no way my uncle would know this. It was a touching experience for him though, and even when he told me the story, he teared up. More of a reincarnation than ghost thing, but fairly spooky none the less.

hmmmmmmm interesting all together...

Our extended family always had a corn boil every fall out by the beach on the North shore of PEI.. us kids would always go and play in a nearby building after dark (hide & seek or something like that)... away from our parents. This one night we saw off in distance a burning ship and a few minutes later someone found a bottle that washed up on shore.. in it was a note that said "help".... we were completely freaked out, and of course didn't tell anyone.. the ship disappeared after a few minutes.. It was years later that I learned about phantom ships..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_ship

Then a few years later.. on a full moon at camp (which was on the ocean again).. we saw another burning ship.. this was about 30 people at our camp.. it's creepy when you see it and completely enthralling at the same time..

ooh I should also tell a story my friend recalls of the night her father died.. her mother was visited by him.. he came and sat at the edge of her bed staring at her.. she asked him what he was doing and he said he couldn't stay long there was much for him to do.. my friend saw him herself at his funeral, sitting alone in the balcony, and then when it was time to close the casket, he jumped into the casket and laid down with the corpse. She seemed to be very comforted by it all... It freaked me out solid!

my hubby said that a few days after his grandpa funeral... he was in bed at his grandma's house and he woke up and saw his grandfather walk down the hall... i don't think he ever told anybody...

then a few months ago we were talking with his brother and sister and I am not sure how it came up but the brother said he had seen his grandfather at the top of the stairs and then his sister said she had seen him too (I can't remember where she said she saw him).. they both said it was a few days after the funeral... of course I then told them that David said he had seen him too...
