1) None. I had a friend whose mother did not breastfeed, and turned out just fine. As long as the baby is well taken care of (is given good formula and all that), I think it's fine.

2)I'd want my bio baby

3) No. OT - One of Justin's friends tried to be vegan for a few weeks, he turned a very pale slight greenish color  He was doing it to loose weight

Caro

Hi ladies, hope that your pregnancy going well.

1) None. They have good formula out there now. I plan to breastfeed tho.

2) Bio baby, altho I'd like to still be part of my switch baby too, like being able to visit, keep up with development. Wont interfere in the bringing up tho.

3) Not fair to the kid I think.

#1 BREASTS ARE GOOD! Always! It is not just about the mechanics of feeding a baby. It is about nurturing too. I think it is a waste of a once in a lifetime opportunity to bond with your child through the breast if you willingly chose not to. Can a baby have a normal life without breast feeding? Maybe. I think bottle feeding leads to breast obsession later in life.

#2 Bio babies with bio mom's. There is more than physical attachment at play here. Granted, I know there are lot of difficulties here, especially when #1 is at play but I want to know how my genes were passed on.

#3 No. Let the kids decide for themselves what they like and do not like.

#1 neither - like people have said women who don't breastfeed have their reasons.. and I don't think mothers should be made to feel selfish or bad for not breastfeeding  being a mother is hard enough without all that guilt...

#2 I voted for keep that baby I was given but it would depend on when I found out.. like if it was a few weeks after the birth I would want my baby but if the child was older like 5 or 6 etc.. I would probably keep the one I was given but maybe if I was in that situation I would act differently

#3 I think it is unfair.. the kid should decide for himself if he wants to be vegan or vegetarian...

I find it curious the amount who answer no to question 3. So many babies brought the church for christening, etc. being brought up in their parent's lifestyle - how is being vegan any different? There are several countries where being vegan/vegetarian is the norm - is it still unfair then?

I should think parents make the best choices for their children, the best way they know how. I doubt a vegan parent would think bringing up their child in that environment is harmful and taking away choices.

1) None. I wasn't breast fed and my son wasn't breast fed. We grew up fine.

2) I couldn't answer this question unless in that situation.

3) I think it's fine to bring up a child vegetarian or vegan. If the parents are vegan or vegetarian chances are they couldn't prepare meat based meals. If the child wants to eat meat when they get older they can.

Question number isn't about if it's fine for the baby not to be breastfed. Yes it is fine, formulas work the same way. Babies grow up as well as breastfed ones... The question was if people think they're selfish or considered bad mothers for opting not to do so, if there's nothing stopping you.

i said 6 weeks. if it was 5 years i'd probably keep the baby i raised.

1. not selfish or bad

2. 6 months? so hard...i'd prob keep the non-bio baby. or not. idk.

3. toddlers don't have choices. feed them whatever you want as long as the kid is being nourished. then allow him/ her to choose when older about diet.

1. There are many reasons why some women choose not to breastfeed. I could be that they are not producing sufficient milk or they are on medication.

2. This is a tough one. If I had already bonded with the non-bio child, it would be really hard for me to give him or her up. But on the other hand I would want my bio child. I will be a tough decision to make.

3. If both parents are vegans, vegetarians it shouldn't be difficult. The child would be used to a non-meat diet anyway.

Life is so strange but it sure keeps you on your toes!!!

1st: None...Mom's nowadays luckily have the choice of what they want to do and could even do both if baby doesn't get confused. I don't think you're selfish not to breastfeed. Some moms try to bf but can't, some have just so much milk it overwhelms them, some don't make enough because the pumpig at work just doesn't keep their supply up etc...AND I'd just like to add that formulafeeding yuor baby doesn't mean that they turn out not ok...I don't even know where the connection is there. Does it mean you're turning out a killer if formula fed or get cancer later on??? I was on solids by 6 weeks because my mom couldn't keep up with my eating schedule. I chose to nurse both my babies. I've been nursing 2 years so far and I have at least another 6 months or even longer until my daughter will wean herself off. I don't judge a momma by whether she bf or not.

2nd: I would want my biological baby. Fortunately mix ups are rather rare nowadays, since babies hardly go into the nursery anymore without a wristband.

3rd: As long as your baby is thriving and growing well, there's nothing bad about vegan eating.

not producing milk is not a choice, neither is a medication they really have to take. i'm talking they can breastfeed, nothing stips them and they choose not to.

1. I think it's better to breastfeed.

2. I'd want my biological baby back.

3. I think it's fine to raise your child vegetarian, but vegan is pushing it IMHO.
