How Many Intelligent Civilizations Are In Our Galaxy?

If our universe is 10-13 billion years old and our solar system is estimated at being around 5 billion years old, apparently, we were near the end of the line so is possible that civilizations have been formed and are away ahead of assuming the formation process is the same. To explain galaxies that are further away from us in light years than what the universe is old, well with the big bang theory, when that bang occurred, the laws of physics as we know them didn't exist as the universe wasn't formed yet so don't apply.

Anyway, it's fun driving on isolated Wisconsin roads on a very clear night and looking up for a UFO with flashing lights. Will tell you if I see one, but maybe not, you may think I am nuts, ha, may think I am nuts regardless. Do enjoy watching these science shows more so than the comedy hour, and most of the times, funnier than the comedy hour.

Here is an old, but interesting work by Stephen H. Dole, of the RAND Corporation, and Isaac Asimov, Science Fiction writer. I got my copy from Dole when it what written but I lost it. According to that study, we may never know.

Planets for Man was written at the height of the space race, a few years before the first moon landing, when it was assumed that in the not-too-distant future human beings “will be able to travel the vast distances to other stars.” The authors propose to determine — on the basis of then-current biological and cosmological knowledge — whether there are other worlds where humans can survive or where human life may even now be flourishing. This volume, co-authored by RAND researcher Stephen Dole and science fiction master Isaac Asimov, certainly one of the more unusual co-authorships in RAND’s long history of research and publishing, it was based on a more technical treatise authored by Dole, Habitable Planets for Man. Can't argue the fact that Iowa is flat, and the likes of Newton, Copernicus, Galileo, were heretics.
