I think this Intelligent Design debate puts some politicians in a moral bind.

Almost every politician out there- including our President- states he is Christian or Catholic or Jewish at some point in his campaign. If they don't actually state it, then they go out of their way to make sure it is known.

If you are Christian, then you believe God created man. You might be thinking evolution had something to do with it, but that at least God kick started the process. At any rate you certainly cannot go around saying it is like believing a fairytale to believe in the Bible when you campaigned as a Christian!

So, here you are faced with this issue of whether Intelligent Design should be taught in school as an equal theory to that of Evolution. The people arguing against this tell you that evolution is science- the other is fiction! But you are a Christian, so you supposedly don't believe the other is fiction at all. In fact- since you are a Christian, you supposedly think the way evolution is taught is fiction!

Part of Christianity is a belief in the Bible. The Bible is not really grey on these issues. You cannot call yourself a Christian, and say you believe in the Bible, but not believe what the Bible says. Maybe you believe in God, but if you don't believe in the Bible then you not Christian, you are something else. It's a predicament, because the Bible has no good answer for the Dinosaurs. You as the President of the United States cannot say that Dinosaurs did not roam the Earth millions of years ago when all the evidence in the world says they did, but if you are a Christian you somehow have to say they didn't, and you definitely cannot say that people who don't believe they did are morons.

The bible, supposingly a revelation from God was written with mans knowledge of the earth and science at the time. I like the Book of Revelation, my god is more powerful than yours and is going to pound the ####### out of you for hurting me. Because my god likes me better than you. We are the chosen people is another good one.

Yeah. As someone raised Catholic I tend to think Augustine settled the issue of interpretation about 1400 years ago; some things are metaphor meant to convey spiritual truths, and things like the Creation story are some of those things.

Dale, for many many Christians throughout the world, the Bible is not regarded as a dictate from God, but a collection of writings that are inspired by God. There is nothing intrinsic about the Christian faith that says to be Christian you must take the book of Genesis as word for word, factual truth about the beginning of humankind. So the gray area is how one defines believing in the Bible. For example, the Episcopalian, Catholic and Lutheran Churches all have made statements in support of the theory of Evolution. So there is no moral dilemma for Christians who accept Evolution. The notion that believing in a Creator and Evolution are in conflict with one another only exists for the Fundamentalists and their literal interpretation of Adam and Eve.

I was thought Ape in school, because my school wasn't a religious school, so everything we were taught was based in facts, not in faith.

I don't think schools should be teaching God unless it's a catholic school or some kind of religious school and the parents choose to put their kids in that specific school to learn that specific religion. Otherwise, which god are they gonna teach? Every religion has a different view on how things were ''created''

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I still don't see why theology and science can't work together. I like the idea that God created evolution. Who wants to deal with micromanagement? :P

As a scientist I could def. go with that one. Wish I could create a new nanomanagement system then, so that my experiments could do themselves. :D:star:

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
