The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Campus Security tells Newschannel 7 a 19-year old male student died at St. Michael's Hospital early Saturday morning.

Campus security says he had been found unresponsive in Thomson Hall, a residence hall on the campus.

Students at the University of WIsconsin - Stevens Point Campus tell Newschannel 7 the student was found lying at the bottom of a stairwell in Thompson Hall this morning.

They say he was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

We're told the man went to Random Lake High School and was set to graduate from UWSP in 2012.

Stevens Point Police, UWSP and the Portage County Coroner are continuing to investigate this case.

The word we got from our daughter staying at the same dorm was more detailed. Called last night in a state of panic and crying. Granted, this is HEARSAY. She new that boy, and prefer boy to man, got plastered out of his mind, and went down to his room. It's a co-ed dorm, four stories high, boys on the 1st and 3nd floors, girls on the 2nd and 4th floors. Stairs are concrete with metal edges, should know, daughter is on the fourth floor and had to haul up many very heavy items.

The story we got is he passed out when going down the stairs and broke his neck. Naturally as parents, we are very concerned, attended that seminar that lasted two days and alcohol usage was discussed at length, with the precautions the university takes to prevent things like this. We are very aware of peer pressure, and also very aware that we can't even buy alcohol unless we show an ID, drivers license showing our age, for us, that is a complement.

Doesn't take Sherlock to realized that beer was purchased and supplied by someone over the age of 21, and granted, odds are, no one twisted that kids arm to drink it. We are just going to keep a close look on this investigation and perhaps raise some hell with the university. Just glad it wasn't our daughter.
