my fiance has 2 children and one will be joining her with K2 visa (20 year old daughter) and one will remain home for now with his grandma (18 year old son). Does her child who will remain home for now (he is listed on I-129f) go to interview and does his name need to be on the I-134? Also, if you could provide other useful information on the requirements for each child I would appreciate it very much.

no, only if the child applies for a visa will they need to attend a visa interview... Does not go on the I-134 either as there is no intention to get a visa

YMMV

and one will remain home for now with his grandma

However, others will correct me if I am wrong, if this child intends to eventually come to the US, shouldn't they also be listed on the form and attend the interview?

If they don't, then how will they ever come to the US?

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Yes and no. The Consulate needs to be informed about the child. The couple also needs to become intimately familiar with age-out issues with a 20 year old. She must arrive in the USA before her 21st birthday or forget it. I'm not sure about the age-out requirement for adjusting status but these are issues to get definite answers on right away.

The 18 year old must follow to join as K2 within a year. After that he has no chance at all because he will not qualify as a step-child of the US Citizen.

Wouldnt ALL children be named on the intial I-129F ? even if they stay behind... so I guess thats one place USCIS would see the child.

Pushbrk.. you remark seemed to suggest the child has no chance to follow ..So what is a I-130 about? A permanent resident may file for a unmarried son/daughter over the age of 21 or older.... or so the guide to this form says....

Thank you all for your replies. What are the details of "follow to join". Do I include his name on the I-134 for the interview next month or do I fill out a new one within one year? Also, what does my fiance say at the interview about this and is there any paperwork or do we just make sure he "follows to join" within one year? One year from what date? What are the details of this process?

Sure, a permanent resident can file for their adult child but they have to wait for visa number to become available. That's years down the road. As a practical matter, those "children" tend to get on with their lives abroad by then, which if that includes marriage, changes the picture entirely.

Then the Consulate with either automatically or by request, send them each a packet 3 etc. I'd email the Consulate directly for their follow to join procedures. These are questions to have asked weeks or months ago.
