Hi!

Well, my wife is finally here on her K3 Visa, and we now begin the AOS process. Let the confusion begin once again!!! :-)

We thought we'd begin with the relatively easy G-325a (Biographic Info), and immediately ran into a block - the "File Number" and "Alien Registration Number".

Can anyone tell me what these are? I've found nothing in the I-485 instructions, and the few posts I found in the Forum seem to contradict themselves.

Here's what I do have at my disposal:

* my wife's K-3 Visa

* my wife's I-94 Departure Record

* the I-797C (NOA) for the I-130 (with an "EAC" receipt number and a "A###" Beneficiary Number)

* the I-797C for the I-129F (with a different "EAC" number, but the same "A###" number)

I really hope someone can shed some light on this so I don't have to attempt to call USCIS - last time was a looooooong wait to talk to a very unhelpful rep...

Thank you!

Rob

It's the A# in both places. It may be written on the I-94 and visa too.

IIRC, A# numbers could change from case to case, so you may have gotten different A#s. The A# you use for the AOS is the one on your NOA2 form.

But this is not the Alien number, right?

Okay, here it is. On your NOA2, your Alien Registration Number is above the name of the beneficiary, a little to the right. That is your most recent A# and you should use this for your I-485 and other forms

Thank you very much! Yes, I see that the A# is the same on both of the NOA2's we rec'd (for I-129F and I-130).

Thanks again!
