Hi All,

We are preparing the materials for our interview now. I saw some people put the spouse's name on the utility bills, is it helpful? We called National Grid and took almost 1 hour to get through the right person, they needed me to provide my SSN then they can add my name on the bills. How did you people handle this, please share with me your experience.

Also, I would like to know if we put both our names on the utility bills, can it add to my credit score, someone mentioned about it. Or any suggestions about it? Thanks.

All of our utility bills are in my husband's name. I did not use utility bills as evidence for our AOS

We used other documents such as: mortgage, joint bank account, joint credit cards, life insurance policy showing me as his beneficiary, our medical insurance card showing both our names.

drl,

Evidence for living together for your AOS interview can be from many sources. Our utility bills are under my wife's name (because they don't do joint account together) and we didn't encounter any problem during our AOS interview. If you have joint bank account(s) together, lease/own home together, insurances together, credit card, etc, all of those things would be sufficient evidence that for your prove of living together. If your name is not on utility bills, I think that won't be a problem. Just make sure you bring as much as evidence you can think of for your interview.

As far as credit score, I don't know about that.

For credit score, i highly doubt having your name on the bills help.

Utilities companies only report you if you get behind on payment, they don't bother to report your good payment history.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.
