is it that allowed i mean while processing the cr 1 at the same time the k3?

many people think that K3 is the route but think again!!.......in my case my cr1 has been completed and sent to embassy on feb 4,2009 yet my k3 petition is still on administrative processing. it's good to file for both petitions coz you'll never know!

once you get your NOA1 after sending your I-130 petition, you can apply for K3. you need the NOA1 copy for k3 petition. normally k3 is faster since it is supposed to give the foreign spouse a non immigrant visa to come to US and wait for the Cr1 to be completed.......but in our case, our K3 got stuck in NVC administrative processing while our CR1 is already completed and on its way to manila. some people ignore the cr1 and just continue with the K3 route thinking it's the fastest way.....my advice is to keep pursuing both petitions coz you'll never know what will go through first!

In our case by the time I got my notice from NVC on the CR-1 we were already in the embassy with the K3. You apply for both up to NVC. Then you can continue to proceed with both if you diesire. The K3 no days is usually just slightly faster whereas the CR1 is less expensive and permits the SO to go to work faster.

Let me get this straight...your CR-1 got approved but the K-3 is in AP? That makes absolutely no sense! You would think that they would be more stringent in issuing a CR-1 than a simple K-3 visa. I was thinking to just pursue the K-3...now I might have to reconsider again... :(

Some cases are pulled at random for AP but their also could be an error of some kind with the I-129F.

yes, our CR1 got to NVC on 1/3 whereas our K3 got there 1/5.....then CR1 completed 1/30 and sent to us embassy on 2/4 while our K3 still on administrative processing. I'm actually aiming for the Cr1 for the obvious reasons so things worked just as fine.......i was just looking at things as a matter of principle, i meant that K3 should have been faster.

remeber me saying that i wonder if the cr1 would be pulled for random checks too... obviously not hmmm

shows how random they are, and how pointless the "random AP" for k visas are at nvc.

clearly, they are just meeting quota's for ap pulls on k visa's, they cant be all that important if they let the cr1 fly through..its the same beneficiary :girlwerewolf2xn: let us out guys!

to the op, congrats and good luck on the interview

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Hmmm I know of atleast one case where k-3 visa was granted but CR-1 was put on AP. I think the said couple is from MENA.

So you never know what might happen.

And another thing, you can send both i-130 and i-129f together, a lot of people do, rather than waiting for NOA-1 of your i-130 you can send them both at the same time.

Yeah the AP thing at NVC seems pretty random. I can't see any rhyme or reason for it.

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

interesting.

still makes absolutley no sense. it's like pulling you out of line at the airport for a random check and only asking to see one of your bags.. "lets have a look in your purse,ma'am".."no it's ok, we dont need to check your carry on"
