What I don't like about grits, you cannot eat them out of the box, you can try, but very difficult to swallow. Have to cook them that requires a pot you have to clean, has to be watched so the grits do not burn to the bottom of the pan, that requires a jack hammer to clean. If fixed with over easy eggs and pork sausages or bacon, two more pans to clean.

So just eat a breakfast bar instead and say the hell with it. Order them at restaurants though, down south restaurants, try that up north, and they will tar and feather you.

Can find Quaker grits up north, but much easier to find those small packets of yeast.

I find them disgusting. i also grew up with oatmeal and cream o wheat(dont like it either though), but dad is from virginia so every once in a while he would try to get us to eat those "southern favorites"...grits =YUCK! biscuits and gravy=yaaay!

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. With sauteed mustard/cumin/urad mixture and some channa-daalia (roasted channa-daal) and cashews for flavour....probably get something which will at least be similar to upma (normally, this is made with cream-of-wheat, not grits but...)

Hominy is also one of my favourites.

(Mags won't even try biscuits and gravy, or grits. She doesn't like cornbread either. I think I married an alien.)

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
