N400 Interview / Selective Service

On my interview letter it asks me to bring evidence of selective service registration. I am no longer in the 18 - 26 age bracket for registration but was at an early stage during my three year residency.

Is the burden of proof on me to show that I was registered? And if so, is printing off the confirmation page from "check a registration" on the SSS.gov website sufficient or do I need to have some official notification mailed?

One would think that with all the checks that they do prior to interview that they would be able to verify this information.

If you didn't register no problem you need the letter from selective service that you didn't register and it easy to get. To get the letter go to ssa website and there is form you need fill up and send them in the mail and they send you the letter saying you didn't register and that letter you can take to interview and explain them i forgot to register if i knew that time i would register and i think you all set

The letter is a status information letter. The confirmation is not going to do much, as they need to know if the SSS has any problems. Burden of proof is on you. Don't worry about it too much. Just apply for the status information letter and you should be good to go.

Ok. I just requested my confirmation letter but when I spoke to the agent I discovered that I had not notified them of my change of address when I moved prior to my 26th birthday. I registered for SS within 30 days of arriving in US on my K1 and the address they had on file was forwarded by USPS to my new address until after my 26th birthday. Is forgetting to change address likely to cause any issues with my citizenship application?

I changed my address so many times and never informed the USCIS or the SSS. I know I know...shame on me. But I have not had a problem with them so far....or maybe not. LOL. I passed my interview so I take it everything must have been in line. I wouldnt worry too much, make sure that the USCIS has yoru current address when you file your n400. Good luck and it will soon be over.

i had my interview today and when all had gone well and passed IO told me that i did not register with ss she told me to mail that letter when i get it==but issue is i was past 26th birthday--if you count months but she disregarded that all she did was 2003-1977=26 i would suggets get letter instead of delaying you case now am waiting for that piece of paper yet she knows it means nothing-she also gave me congratulation letter that i have been recommeded for approval-just that letter
