I came a week ago to the us for medical treatment in a workmen's comp case. My boyfriend has just proposed and wants us to get married in a month and file for aos. Will this be a problem since if we get married I will just have been here for 5 weeks? Is there a strong chance that I will be suspected of immigrant intent and get my application turned down? I had no intentions of marrying when I came here.

sorry i took so long. Just want to say thanks for responding. I do have papers for my medical treatment. It has been ongoing since 07 when i got injured in the us.

Check out the guides for AOS. It is up to you to prove you did not have intent o immigrate on entry; and I would asume you have all the documentation related to your medical treatment. Now, marrying right after arrival is a red flag. :guides:

Cool. Just make sure that you read the guides thoroughly. I read somewhere that if you marry within 30 or 60 days of arrival it does complicate things for you later on (remember, intent to immigrate and stuff?) But please please don't take my word for it girl. I hope that your medical treatment is a success sister (F)
