Hey Marm.. thanks for that! You are awesome.. Oh wow.. age.. is yet another gray hair :) He got a letter and it said to send in the checklist only. We have been told don't send the checklist back til you have all the items on the list.. so we are wiating for the cert and MOC. Is it your recommendation for us to wait to send the checklist?? He already did his medical on 10-7. Thanks a load!!

The most important thing is to send in all the required forms first, you can hold on to the checklist until you gather the pending documents, but if the police certificate is all that you are waiting for, I would say send in the checklist. You will most probably have the PC by the time the interview day comes, and if for some reason it gets delayed reaching you, you can be approved pending the PC, and once you send it in to the embassy, your visa is issued. Have you sent in all the forms (sorry if I missed your post saying so if you already did)? The most important thing is to send in all the forms, see this link: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/...processing.html. You can send in all the DS forms and hold on to the checklist until you have all your documents for the interview and then send in the checklist. If you feel like you have already waited too long, I would say send in the checklist while you are waiting for the PC (granted that you have already applied for it a while ago) and you will be eligible for an interview date. Then by the time your interview comes around, you will have your PC or if not, you have the option of sending it in after the interview.

Ok Marm!! Here we go.. we are sending the checklist tomorrow. All they want is this one document to set up the interview, jsut the checklist.. when they get that they set the date for interview. At interview, he brings all the papers. Good luck to us all!!

Yes you are correct , After sending in all the DS forms, they essentially wait for the checklist to give you your interview date. Hope you get an interview date ASAP!

I have a couple of questions - our petition left the NVC in america on the 5th Oct but has still not arrived at the English Embassy, could something be wrong?

My other question is, my fiance is in the american armed forces and may get posted somewhere other than america to live, could we still use our K1 to get married, leave america and apply for our K3 in a different country?

Thanks

Lesley

Some progress to report! Riggs has sent off the request for his Police Certificate! Also, his doctor's office is digging up his immunization records and said they would give him what he needs if he brings in a list. All that is left is sending in Packet 3 and booking the medical... One step at a time, right....

I hope P3 is ready to go when the police cert arrives. Normally, it's 2 weeks. He could book the medical now while he is waiting for his immunization records. Just have him make it a couple of weeks out (or however long it will take to get into the doctors).

P3 to London by special delivery. Don't forget. :D There's tracking that way.

I'm sorry I can't really answer your military questions - but your fiance should have some resources available to get those questions answered for you (and help doing the forms maybe!!) I would think there are some provisions which wouldn't force you to give up your residency if you followed him to live on an American base. However, I do think he'd have to be here long enough to marry you so you can get the ball rolling on AOS.

As to your embassy receipt question: I'm sure they must have physically received it now, but it just isn't entered into their system - it's a bit of a two step process, they have to get your packet out and set things in motion. Meanwhile, order your police cert, schedule your medical and get those packet 3 forms filled in so you're ready to send them all back with the checklist as soon as DOS says they have acknowledged it.

I've heard that special delivery to the embassy is not affected.

I've heard Royal Mail is hiring extra people to help continue mail delivery (not sure how long the strike is for)

You can find out your interview date by calling the Department of State, but you do need your hardcopy for the embassy guard checking you in.

I thought that the easiest way to find out your interview date was to call the DOS number in the US everyday?

Is Royal Mail striking more than just tomorrow and the next day?? I keep checking the RM website and so far that is the only dates. Not happy since we are still needing to get police cert

Our VisaJourney started July 2009 when I mailed the 129-F

Fiance here February 2010, married 10 days later

Well exactly a week today I mailed Nigel my bank statements + a apple pie hard candy (hehe) and he thankfully got it today...so glad he got it being of this new strike and all...wow our luck...whew! Now i'm stewing away on our interview....I barely made the income cutoff on the poverty line guideline thanks to my court ordered child support....I sent my divorce/court order and the bank statements that actually say "child support" and the amt/month I get deposited...so I sent that hopefully the consulate will accept that and other necessary income things as income...I'm worried sick really...plus he has NO LIVE TRACE on his police report thing for letting the air out of the neighbours tires when he was 17, so I hope they dont need a damn court record for that!

Sooooo thats my worry for the next 13 days............OH so STRESSED!

Having the hard copy is the smooth way to get in, but they have a list of the people with appointments for that day, so if you don't get it or loose it, you should still be able to get in.

Also, if you don't receive it and your appointment is coming up you can call the extortion line, get the email code, and get an email which will substitute.

There are work arounds - no panicking! :)

Am i being stupid here or is there too much to take in!!? Can i book a medical without knowing if the Embassy has our petition and without packet 3?

Thanks
