 This process has aged me a 100 years! (I am only 22) As far as the postal strikes are concerned, I don't know if you know about this already but there is a section on royalmail.com about these postal strikes: The page has last been updated Oct 17, 09: Royal Mail Postal Strikes. But you can access the page easily from the royalmail.com homepage by clicking on the "Postal Strikes" link there. The Royal Mail does not effect mailing of the passports to/from the embassy because the embassy uses DX (SMS) courier service for receiving passports and sending out visas/passports, which is totally independent of Royal Mail (and extremely reliable thank God). The embassy uses regular royal mail for the rest of their correspondence which includes: sending out the interview letter and sending out the packet 3 request letter. If for any reason, you do not receive the interview letter, you can always still attend the interview because the security guards have a daily list of appointments and can confirm your name there. And also, if you do not receive the packet 3 request letter, you can always go ahead and fill out all the forms and gather the requested information online (don't have the link right now, but you can easily dig it out of this thread or the UK 2009 Interview thread) and send it to the embassy as your packet 3 response, because currently packet 3 from the embassy is nothing but a paper with the link to all the forms and info they request from you, which is easily found on their website. And DOS is your best friend in this whole process: 202-663-1225 press 1, then 0 to speak to a representative. DOS (Dept of State) will be able to tell you whether the embassy has logged your case on their system (from NVC), whether the embassy has sent out packet 3 letter to you (so whether or not you get it, you can go ahead and prepare the response and send it in on time), and whether or not the embassy as assigned you an interview date (so let's say it is a day before the interview and you don't have the letter from the embassy, you can still go to the interview). Now, as far as you sending out correspondence to the embassy, Royal Mail Special Delivery/ Registered Delivery is still what the embassy accepts. I don't know about any other services people have used or the embassy accepts for sending papers to them. Hope this info helps :)

Hey guys,

Good luck to all of you who are going for their interviews. Just wanted to know if anyone who had their interview on the 14th of Oct, have received their passports yet.

I had my medical on the 9th of Oct and my interview on the 14th. Since my medical results were not avaible at that time of the interview (due to to the weekend), I was told I was "approved pending medical". I know I am just being anxious but since I am not a UK citizen, there is a slight niggling thought that keeps popping into my head that they might want to keep my passport longer for further checks. Although to be honest, the interview was fine, the CO was a nice lady who essentially said "I don't see there being a problem if your medical is fine".

So, I guess I'm just getting antsy and wanted to figure out when I should start getting worried. Thanks for listening to my ramblings :D

The most important thing is to send in all the required forms first, you can hold on to the checklist until you gather the pending documents, but if the police certificate is all that you are waiting for, I would say send in the checklist. You will most probably have the PC by the time the interview day comes, and if for some reason it gets delayed reaching you, you can be approved pending the PC, and once you send it in to the embassy, your visa is issued. Have you sent in all the forms (sorry if I missed your post saying so if you already did)? The most important thing is to send in all the forms, see this link: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/...processing.html. You can send in all the DS forms and hold on to the checklist until you have all your documents for the interview and then send in the checklist. If you feel like you have already waited too long, I would say send in the checklist while you are waiting for the PC (granted that you have already applied for it a while ago) and you will be eligible for an interview date. Then by the time your interview comes around, you will have your PC or if not, you have the option of sending it in after the interview.

I'm so sorry Allie! I hope that they set that interview asap for you. I think ours was quick because we did a cover letter explaining my pregnancy complications, ie bedrest etc for placenta previa (high risk pregnancy). Hang in there, will send out lots of good thoughts your way for a speedier process.

Yay for the interview! Hope he gets to the US soon and you have a smooth delivery, even if it has to be cesarean!

Congrats on the progress! Little things count. London just got our file this week. He has not yet requested the police cert because he just found out he needs to send in two pieces of mail. So right now he is waiting for mail?? It's an odd place to be. I am hoping we get the P3 checklist sent back by the 1st of Nov, but I'm doing my best not to bring it up every conversation.
