My fiance received packet 3 today (or should I say Letter 3...)

We were confused about two things:

1.) Do we sign all the forms, except for the only form where it says "Do not write below this line" (Form DS-156k)?

DS-157 does not need to be signed anyway. So what about DS-156 and DS-230 Part I? The embassy website instructions do not mention any signature restrictions we we were wondering whether my fiance has to sign them all then (except for DS-156K of course)?

2.) Now, the new checklist, as available on the embassy website is IV-15...but on the last page of IV-15 it says to "Please mail the Form IV-15K & checklist to...."

So I found the checklist they are referring to, it is the DS-2001 document, and it looks the EXACT same as the IV-15. And at the end of DS-2001 it says "Please mail the Form DS-2001 & checklist to..."

So we are planning on sending both the DS-2001 and IV-15K completed to the embassy...

I wanted to know what everyone else did and what about my Question #1? We have NO idea about any signature restrictions except the one form where it explicitly says do not sign.

:help: !!!

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

OK, I am here answering my own Question #2: Only the Form IV-15k & checklist is required (meaning the total of document IV-15K). The other DS-2001 is for general immigrant visa applicants. So only IV-15K is required, not DS-2001.

:)

Still wondering about Question #1

For those of you here who already filled out packet 3 ages ago (or so it seems compared to me...) the "new" packet 3 consists of just a letter with standard information regarding how the embassy will process the case along with just this link to follow instructions from: http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html So when I say that there aren't any signature restrictions, I mean this webpage (which is the only info the packet 3 gives) does not say anything about what to sign and what not to sign.

It is quite clear on the forms what to sign, if the signiture space is under a line which states do not write below this line then dont sign it

This is the checklist http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/...ess_K_visas.pdf

And thank God they've put it online now.

It seems the NEW procedure is do two copies of all four documents, no matter your gender. They have most definitely changed this webpage of instructions, so read it again if you are just starting P3. If you've already submitted, then like Talyss they will catch you up by handing you a form DS157 when you get there. Save time by doing it now and taking with you. If you didn't submit two copies of everything, then they will make their own copies for their files. It sounds like a cost cutting measure to instruct people from here on out to make two copies. If you already mailed, then you followed the rules posted at the time so don't worry about two copies of each.

DS230, part 1 which is pages 1 & 2 - Okay to sign

Ds156 - - Okay to sign

DS157 - no place to sign

DS156K - DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE The consular officer will assist you in answering this part, so don't write/sign below.

And don't be confused by that seciton of the 156K that says "the following must be attached..." This is a worldwide form so is somewhat generic. London wants you to bring those in hand to the interview and the checklist you sign tells them you've got them in your hands ready to bring.

I am doing my 157 now, however since they do not stamp your passport anymore for trips within Europe and I am ####### at dates it is a bit of guess work.

So I think I will also just for peace of mind take my expired passport with me as well.

I sadly don't have that luxury...I'm hoping that they'll just be lenient with my vagueness. Maybe someone should hypnotise me and make me remember...

Dont sweat it honey, they have only just introduced it and if it was not for Tayless we would not even know.

So have a look at the form dont take it filled out, just take with you as much info as you have to fill it in, so if they spring it on you when you get there you can say you did not know about it and fill it in by hand then and there, they cant expect you to remember everything. If it is that important they would e-mail us to tell us to fill in and bring to the interview.

I cant remember all the visits to Ireland, France. Sweden and Spain that I have made so they are not gonna be correct and my Egypt stamps in my passports dont have dates on them so again I cant remember. I am useless at dates so I will just do the best I can, or might just fill out roughly by hand and take it with me and fill out again when I am there, Tayless said that they just handed her the form and left her alone to fill in when they went to get her x ray.

Huggums, thank you, Monkey...I have prepared something which basically lists the countries I've visited, employers, etc. so I can refer to that just in case. I just feel bad for the people who didn't expect it and have no recollection of where they went and when.

Ooh guuuuuys...my medical's in just over a week! Nine days, eeeeeeeeee!
