People between NOA2 and Interview ~2009~

'Ello....I was hoping I could trouble the more experienced for some advice :)

We sent our packet back on Friday....obviously taking into account the bank holiday monday and the general lethargy felt by all workers on a bank hol Friday, when do you guys think it would be reasonable to expect notification of an interview date?

I'm moving at the end of this month and although I have changed the address on the form, I have seen a couple of people who haven't had that picked up by the embassy and subsequently information has been sent to the old address. I just want to know what is considered a "reasonable" period of time for them to process pk3 and issue pk 4 so that I can give them a call if I haven't heard anything. Oh! and we put a leave date of 30th June on there.

To top it all of my boss is bugging me about having to know when the interview is in June so that he can schedule my working time table (that man is going to bleed me dry before I leave, i swear it)

Thanking you in advance :)

I've run into a bit of a problem :mellow:

For the Affidavit, I will be having a Co-sponsor, no problems there, they earn enough and they have the necessary evidence to prove that. However my fiancee does not earn enough and unfortunately she can only provide ONE piece of evidence, the Tax return.

Her boss, is having immigration issues himself and will not write a letter of employment in case he feels he may get caught out somewhere. My fiancee has tried persuading him but he won't budge and is paranoid that he'll end being red flagged further and thus deported. So the only way she can get a letter of employment is through his accountant, ludicrously the accountant wants to charge $200-300 to write it out.

She can't get/no access to paystubs because in her most recent job she has been paid by cheque/cash most of the time. What on earth are we going to do, stuck at a dead end here, will the tax return itself be sufficient? Thanks! :(

Think it may be worth to add here what sort of scrutiny does the CO give over the Sponsor's evidence, since it will be the Co-sponsor's evidence that is more crucial. Does her boss need to be paranoid over this?

It took about a month for me; some people got theirs sooner, some latter. I think 3 - 5 weeks is a reasonable estimate (thought not a very precise one!)

She can't get a letter from her bank stating how much was paid in last year?

According to the London Embassy's website, you can supply:

- notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;

- a statement from his or her employer showing salary and the length and permanency of employment;

- a statement from an officer of a bank regarding his or her account, the date the account was opened and the present balance;

- any other evidence adequate to establish financial ability to carry out his or her undertaking toward the applicant for what might be an indefinite period of time.

I think just rely fully on the cosponsor.

If her income is unproven (no W-2, no Pay stubs, no letter of employment), they can treat it like it's zero. Use tax transcripts from previous years and this year's return (not even a W-2 from these jokers? Yikes!!) to show compliance with tax laws but don't try to claim any specific income for your fiance, let it all go straight on back to the cosponsor is my recommendation.

If you're not comfortable with that, perhaps she can show bank statements (w/ regular deposits) in lieu of pay stubs? Basically go at it like she's self employed, and gather the proof the way others have done it.

i agree with marty, THREE to five weeks. ours was about 3 weeks after 'packet 3'. start calling the DOS in a couple of weeks (15 may) to see if your interview is on the system.

as for the I-134 problem, do the best you can with the primary sponsor's evidence, but have very solid co-sponsor evidence (and a I-134 of course) with you at the interview to ensure an approval.

that $200-300 is appalling. awful.

Congrats mrandmrs!! That's such great news. Awww!

On a completely different note - does anyone know how much it costs to stash a bag at Gould's? Want to make sure I have enough cash on me. Thanks...

- notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return

Is that the case, any photocopies of tax returns (1040/W-2) must be notarized?

No need for photocopies of tax returns to be notarized. Just copies of the 1040 and W-2s are fine, no notary necessary.

Don't worry! We are all here to help you out! If you need a checklist of what to take/what not to take to the interview, check this out: Lisabette(mr_and_mrs)'s updated interview checklist

The pink dots are what she actually needed and they actually asked for, the rest was extra.

Hope that helps (and Lisabette, hope you don't mind that I referred your list). :blush:
