Hi guys,

just wanted to say hello. So glad I can join this thread FINALLY

Plenty of good advice to read about :). I'll no doubt be posting asking for advice once I get past NVC stage :D.

I thought I'd dip my toe in too. We got our NOA2 yesterday. I was so busy trying not to get too caught up in the next stage (taking it one stage at a time) that now it's arrived I feel a little underprepared! So I shall be reading this thread with interest :reading:

i felt that way too.

get going on things. its much better to check things off your list sooner rather than later so you can preempt having to wait for documents to arrive.

order police certificate

make medical appointment (if/when you have a LND case number from the NVC)

fill out DS forms

etc etc etc!

congrats!

edit: oh and order the tax transcripts because they simplify your life a little.

those are my hints. : D

Some more hints for KAT&Allie and anyone else with recent NOA2's,

Get an appointment with the GP before the Knightsbridge medical if you already have vaccinations done (those that are required) or if you want to get them for free/cheaper than Knightsbridge and rather not wait for AOS.

And do not worry about proof of relationship (this is specifically for London people)...barely anyone is asked for it, but if you want to be on the safe side, take it to the interview, but don't go overboard or worry about it.

Recently, for people who are interviewing after the expiry of their NOA2 ( in other words, it has been more than 4 months since you received the NOA2 at the time of interview) then take a notarized letter of intent from the petitioner to the interview...no one has been asked for this yet from what I have heard/read on VJ, but it is listed in the packet 3 checklist.

Otherwise, just fill in the DS-forms and send them in (2 copies of all the forms except the DS-230 Part I), pics are not required to be attached to the DS-156, you can take those with you on the day of the interview. And be sure to send in the checklist as well so that you are eligible to be assigned an interview date soon!

Good luck! :star:

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

Thanks for the tips MARM. I've had all the docs ready and waiting but because it took us so long to get NOA2, my Croatian police certificate expired so I need a new one. And we'll need a tax thingie for 2008 instead of 2007 that I have :(. Never mind, at least we've reached this stage. :) More than I expected a week ago! Hopefully we won't get stuck at NVC and can get the move on soon...

Is there a point in booking a medical yet if London Embassy hasn’t received the file yet?

if you have a case number (LND#), you can book in the medical. depending on how easy/difficult it is for one to get to london, you can make a decision as to trying to book the medical on or near the same date as your interview.

we did it beforehand. just one more thing to check off the list. one step closer to getting the visa.

It does feel good to be at this stage and thanks for all the tips! So you think it's best to apply for the police certificate now rather than waiting for packet 3? I guess it ticks one thing off the list.

Another quick question is it ok to leave the country in-between the medical and the interview? Not that I've got that far yet! I've got a wee holiday planned in June and think I read somewhere that they don't like you doing this?

:D There's nothing wrong with that, as far as I know. I don't think there's anything official objecting to it, but it might depend on the country you're going to.

Apologies for being so scarce, all -- been a tad busy :). Congrats to everyone who got NOA2 recently!

Nick came between the medical and interview. He already had a trip to the US ticketed prior to NOA2. He actually requested an interview after <date> when he sent in the P3 things so the interview would be after the trip.

Spoke to my nurse today about vaccines, apparently I am up to date with all except the MMR, for which I need a booster. Though I'm sure I need a tetanus booster as aren't you supposed to get them every 10 years? The last one I had was when I was 15. I also mentioned the Tdap and she was like yes your fine for diptheria and polio. I tried to correct her in that the p stands for pertussis but she didn't seem to care. I suppose I should see if my vaccine report says I've been vaccinated for whooping cough as it's not on my kiddy vaccine card.

I went to see the nurse on 27th March to get all my vaccs done ready for my medical which I had on Monday 30th March.

She gave me a booster for Tetanus, diptheria & polio & she also gave my hep B (not sure if i needed to have it but got it anyway) She wouldn't give me MMR right then in fear I might overdose!

I went to my medical thinking I'd have to pay extra for the MMR booster but the nurse at Knightsbridge (lovely Australian lady) said I could wait until AOS so she passed me.

I'm gonna get it done before I go to US thought as its free. (if i dont get denied that is!)

Well I just looked at my medical card when I was a baby and apparently I've had the child version of Tdap (think it's DTap or something), I just wonder if I'll need a booster. If I do she'll probably try to give me tetanus, diptheria and polio instead. I also don't think I've had the MMR combined vaccine, just Measles by itself and Mumps and Rubella together.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't think it would matter, plus it's within the EU so it's not like I'm going boating on the Amazon or anything like that!

And like others here I've made an appointment with my Drs surgery to see what vaccines I need to get up to date. Lovely lovely NHS :star:
