Hi all

Tiger has his interview next week and we have a couple of question that we hope people who have had their interviews can answer:

For those of you who didn't formally propose or get proposed to before filing the I-129F, what did you say at the interview when the officer asked "How did s/he propose?"

We proposed to each other and exchanged engagement rings after filing. Is it okay for Tiger to wear his at the interview?

Thanks,

Swan

Those who got their police certificates recently, how long did it take? I sent for mine, 1st Class, on the 11th March and still haven't received it.

Hi Laura

Ours took about two weeks.

Hey Swan, Knight and I sent one another promise rings, and I actually never take it off. :) I don't think wearing a ring is an issue at all (or not wearing one, for that matter)!

Thankums, MonkeyJuice...been dealing with a funny tummy all day today. Knight's been trying to reassure me but you know how it is @_@ your brain doesn't want to listen.

As for today, it's gorgeous out...I hope it carries over to tomorrow. I think it's gonna be cold though, brrrr.

Just tell the truth whatever it was. Something like "we just mutually decided we wanted to be married so started looking into how we could live in the same country. After learning it was possible and filing, we exchanged rings to celebrate......." Not everybody gets down on one knee, especially in this weird separated dating arrangement, so whatever happened should be fine. Our little story of how we met explained we became great friends and visited in each other's homes starting years ago. It was almost like penpal/exchange visitors. Then life takes unexpected twists and we ended up divorced and widowed but continued to be friends and visited each other some more. So I believe the guy's question to Nick was, "so when did it get romantic between you two?" That's almost embarrassing...what was he asking?!? LOL. Anyway the guy will have read over the "how we met" part from your petition and looked at your evidence, so you can just tell how the relationship progressed to marriage plans based on that without having a formal fancy proposal.

I got packet 4 today; the DoS said on Friday an appointment had been scheduled, and the letter arrived first thing Monday morning. Not bad.

My flights are booked and I have all the documents I need now (I hope), so it's just a case of waiting until the end of April, which will be the longest 4 weeks of my life!

It arrived today! My photo looks awful, plus the Royal Mail bent them up something rotten.

I know what you mean. I know its a police certificate but they didnt have to make me look like a criminal! Mine was all bent too.

Hi guys, Hope you dont mind but i'll be keeping up with this thread from now on. We were approved on the 12th and have received confirmation that NVC have our case. A letter was sent to us on the 19th saying it would be dispatched in a week, so if it isn't in London already, it will be soon.

I noticed London are giving out interview dates really quickly! And there is a short duration of wait too! I really don't want to be interviewed until June or july to allow my SO's new job to become more stable. He wants to be there for the interview too...the plan was always for him to come in June so we are hoping to co-ordinate his interview around this.

As I am so new to this "having a NOA 2" business i was just wondering if someone could clarify something for me.

Am i right in thinking an interview wont be scheduled till the checklist is sent....but prior to that i can send the other forms in. I have also read the embassy website and I think i'm being a bit daft. Do we send a the affadavit of support form before we attend the interview? Or do we submit all documentation at the time of interview. Sorry if it's been asked before, but I keep being confused by different pieces of information I have read on this site and was looking for help from someone who is at the same embassy as us.

Good luck to all those with up coming interviews. Every time we see someone being approved it makes me feel like we are getting closer to our end goal too.

~Ellie

You can send the DS forms in first if you want. I did that as I want to spread it out abit as I am away for 8 weeks soon. I just included a cover letter with the NVC case number (begins with LND) saying that I will be sending the checklist once I have gathered all the required documents. In fact if you read the instructions given in the link when you get Packet 3, it tells you to do that. Here's the link they give youhttp://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html (scroll to the bottom for the instructions on sending stuff in).

The affidavit is given in at the interview along with the documents requested. Only the forms and checklist are sent in.
