Hello all!

I'm from chicago and my fiance is from the uk and we are just waiting for him to get my packet full of info (i-134) so he can send out his stuff for packet 3 back to the embassy.

Of course I didnt know at the time that we needed to prove my co-sponsors citizenship (dad) so I had to reship more papers.....$46 for the first batch of papers weighing at more then 3lbs and $28 for the 4oz copies of my dads passport....crapppyyyyy.

Can't wait to get our interview!! :-D

colinjess: Just to make sure you are not confused, if you are the USCitizen, you will fill out an I-134 for your fiance and include supporting documents, such as the ones on my list, and the co-sponsor (the one who will be sponsoring your fiance with you) will also fill out another I-134 with supporting documents. Both the I-134s with the supporting documents are for your fiance to take with him to the interview.

Now, to clear your confusion about NVC, NVC is National Visa Center, it is where USCIS sends your I-129F approved petition after you get our NOA2. Most probably by the time you get your hard-copy of NOA2, your file is going to be with NVC. NVC then does its own checks (usually done within a couple of days, in most cases) and sends your approved petition to the appropriate embassy (in our case, it is the USE in London). I am planning on calling NVC later this week, and I think that you should call them later this week as well, since we have similar NOA2 dates :) . You can call NVC and find out your new assigned LND# (which is going to be your case # at the USE in London as well), and you can ask them when they sent your petition to the embassy in London as well.

As far as the vaccines for medical: Only the ones appropriate to your age apply to you. If you did not get a certain vaccine when you were younger, you are not required to have it now for the purposes of immigration or adjustment of status.

skparker: I am in Illinois also! My fiance is in London, I am preparing all the doc to send him soon. We recently got our NOA2 so I hope it gets to the embassy fairly quick so we can move on to medical and packet 3. OUCH! It does take a hefty amount out of your pocket to send documents to UK from here! I am going to put everything together and pay for it at once and send the package so I don't have to take out another wad to pay for another shipment. Did you use USPS or FEDEX or DHL?

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

I used USPS. The package I sent on the 4th (wed) is already at his post office to be sent to his house according to tracking. And the other package I sent saturday was enroute to the UK at 815am this morning...so I can only assume its at customs now already. USPS might cost a lot...but he gets it in 3-5 days! Which is pretty fast for international...i wonder how much it would cost to ship myself in a box??? prolly cheaper then the tickets.

Where in illinois are you?? im in the suburbs of chicago :)

I am sure this info is somewhere here on this site, but I can't find it right now :(

I got approved on Thursday, so I was thinking of calling NVC on Monday and asking for my LND#. NVC is open 5 days a week, but what about Saturday & Sunday? I know they are not open, but do you think that they would have my case in their automated record message system over the weekend?

K1 visas don't get added to the automated system - you have to speak to an operator at NVC

You can book the medical now if you want. When you call Knightsbridge, they will ask you if you got packet 3, you have to say yes you got it, and then you tell them your LND#. (They ask for packet 3 because they assume you got your LND# by looking at packet 3). It does not matter if there is a big gap between interview and medical. The medical results are valid for one year.

I am thinking that my fiance should book his medical after the case gets to the embassy so that they have an electronic record of the case atleast by the time my fiance does his medical. The reason I am thinking this way is because I know the medical results are forwarded within 2-4 days from the day of the medical to the embassy, and I wouldn't want the embassy to get the medical results before they had any record of my fiance's file because I don't want the embassy to just "ignore" the results so to speak.

So I guess, I am questioning whether it is okay to schedule a medical after just getting the LND# even though the embassy might not have gotten the file or even have record of the file? What does the embassy do with medical results from a visa applicant before they get the actual file? Let it sit there and match it up when they get the file from NVC?

Anyone have an answer to this?

the question of me and his life!!!! i asked the same question to myself....we havent sent packet 3 yet he had his medical already....so they better not freaking loose it or i will go nuts on em. im hoping there is a file cabinet, alphabatized, with these files. i will have my fiance call them just to make sure, i dont care if it costs a pound twenty a minute. but i just want to make sure its still there. and my question is...i kno u said putting a early wedding date might speed up the interview date.....is putting march 20 too ambicious? or is april more of a reasonable time?? we should be sending out packet 3 this week--just are waiting on his darn police certificate. we dont know what is taking so long. he has no record and everything was filled out right, check cleared...confused about that. hope to get it in the next day or two. i really want this to just be over with and get the earliest interview date...especially since his medical has been forwarded to the embassy.

and the medical ppl gave my fiance a receipt so if they lose anything by accident, he can get everything again for free. im sure i said that...but just to re-cap. :)

Marm--saw you had a PM thing with the fiance, lol....just so you know...we both use this all the time! ha. ill sign my stuff with K from now on, ha (kristine-my name) :)

With regard to the date on the form I sent mine back last week in January with a wedding date of 12th March. it was showing up on the embassy as having been received on 29th January - my interview has come through for 3rd March. It certainly seems to speed up the interview allocation but I would have plans for moving the wedding back if the interview is very last minute compared to that date.

SO i just got back from the doctors!!!

ive had MMR and Tdap the ones that everyone is getting charged for! :) but i asked the nurse about gettting a medical record and she didnt have a clue!

so does anyone have a example or a way of clearing it up to them so that i get the right stuff for the medical!!

also it says Varicella is needed. i know you can only get this in USA! ( but i have had chicken pox, how can they prove this!!!??)

Also is it worth gettin my TB jab done ive never had it ! its not needed for immigration! but should i get this any way !!

...............................

its good that they speed up the process if you put an early wedding date !! i think im just going to wait until i get Packet 3 before i book my medical! just so there is no risk of anything getting lost! or misplaced! Also id rather be other prepared for everything rather than unprepared and get something i know nothing about pop up :)

cheers

so does anyone have a example or a way of clearing it up to them so that i get the right stuff for the medical!!

also it says Varicella is needed. i know you can only get this in USA!

Also id rather be other prepared for everything rather than unprepared and get something i know nothing about pop up :)

cheers

COLIN ( Uk)

I just told the nurse at the medical that I had had chickenpox and she marked that I didn't need it on the form.

What you need from your practice is a record of the immunisations given with batch nos etc. They usually do them for people going abroad and they are allowed to charge you for a vaccine record for travel purposes though a lot of GPs don't bother.

the only reason I think you would need any additional information from your practice is if you jhave a serious health problem in which case you would require a letter from your GP (again they may or may not charge)

The nurse at my docs just wrote it on headed paper and stamped it

Colin you will need to get this from her as she has to put the batch number down of the vaccine

My nurse also put down on this that I had, had chicken pox

and for your information most of us did go to the docs and get them for free

Colinjess: the only thing you need from your GP to take for your K-1 medical appointment is a record of vaccination, that is IF your GP has given you the vaccinations that you asked him/her to for the K-1 medical (so you don't have to get them done at Knightsbridge or leave them for the USA). You will then take this vaccination record from your GP (a written proof that you have gotten your MMR and Tdap, as you have mentioned you have gotten) to the General Surgeon at Knightsbridge for your medical. The General Surgeon at Knightsbridge will take that sheet from your GP saying that you have gotten the vaccinations and transcribe them on a separate form. The General Surgeon will give you a copy of this newly transcribed vaccination record for your AOS. And for Varicella, you can just tell the nurse that you got it when you were younger, unless you actually want the blood test done to find out if you have the antibodies for it. It should not be a problem if you tell the GS at Knightsbridge that you had chicken pox when you were younger, they usually take your word for it. And you do not need a TB test done at this stage of the process, nor is it required. I heard something about a TB skin test required at AOS stage, as they introduced this recently as a requirement for AOS, don't worry about it now. As you will see from the required vaccinations list available on the embassy website and in packet 3, you do not need a TB test done. You get an X-ray done for this purpose at the GS in Knightsbridge when you go for your K-1 medical appointment.

I was curious if anyone has sent in packet 3 papers before actually getting the packet 3 in the mail? We got a letter from the NVC saying our case was being sent to london on the 20th of january. We haven't received anything yet. I was wondering if you think it is okay to just go ahead and send packet 3 info in since it is all available online. We have everything collected already ( birth certificate, police check, affidavit of support documents, etc.) we're just waiting on packet 3 to get to us. We already went ahead and booked the medical. Do you think we need to wait or should we just go for it?
