Magpie's birth certificate is not destroyed or never registered. It exists, but the problem is that she is unable to obtain the original one because she doesn't have the means to obtain it. It exists, its just not in her hands.

I know. But that's a list of "some reasons" a birth certificate may not be available. It's not exhaustive.

Unobtainable is unobtainable, regardless of the reason.

Thankums for the advice, all. This is what I have so far and what I'll add:

1) Photocopy of birth certficate (I have this)

2) Approximate timeline of contact with hospital (need to put this together)

3) Printout of hospital details - location, number, etc. (need to do this)

4) Letter from police and letter I drafted explaining circumstances with contact details (I've got this)

Think that'll do it? I'll also try calling the British Consular in India on Monday and see what they say.

Magpie.

i am pleased to see the collective effort to help ms. magpie. i think it illustrates the power of this place. and it makes me grateful that i somehow found my way here to benefit from it.

jamie and i moved another step forward on friday. he received 'packet 3' on friday.

im slightly confused as to some of the timing at this point. (im also pretty tired at the moment, so maybe not at the top of my visa game.)

do you guys suggest sending 'packet 3' back immediately, even if jamie doesnt have (in hand) everything on the checklist? he has not scheduled his medical yet (he does have a GP appt to 'top-up' on immunizations on 25 march). i assume he will get a medical appt in early april. the i-134 documents that must be originals (from me and my co-sponsor) will probably arrive in the very beginning of april too. having said that, can we send back 'packet 3' now if we feel confident that the medical will be completed and the i-134 documents will arrive in a timely manner? i am hoping (a lot) for a mid/late april interview date.

i also got the tax transcripts in the mail today. quick service. i requested them on the 8th and the arrived on the 14th.

gosh, im tired. goodnight, boys and girls.

Hi mrandmrs, I think we are pretty much at the same place right now, and I had the same debate with my fiance last night. I have scheduled my medical for 3 April (and still need to see my GP before then too) and H is bringing his support stuff at end of March. I've been studying all the timelines on here, and using them as indication, there are loads of interviews up to the end of March, but only 2 VJers scheduled in April (only 1 K1) - and they're around the 20-24th. So i figured if I sent my checklist back this week (at the same time as the forms) any interview probably isn't gonna be until around mid April - mid-May. And if they do crazily schedule it before you have your stuff, I think you can ask for another date (not encouraged but it is possible - as long as you don't do it loads of times!). This is all estimation, but it's what I'm working on, hope that helps. V

Just keep in mind that London does actually take into account your leaving date, people who sent their packet 3 back weeks after me but put an earlier leaving date got their interviews not long after mine.

The only reason I could send my packet 3 back when I did was because I had requested a much later interview date, so I had plenty of time to get the documents together. I projected a leaving date on my IV-15 for May or something, and coupled with the letter I sent asking for an interview after the 1st February, they gave me an interview date at the end of March. That's how it worked for me, anyway :P.

Hugs!

Magpie.

Magpie, I would take your copy of the court restraining order against your family as that will be seen by the embassy as being a legal document backing up your reasons for not being able to get a family member to assist you in obtaining an original document and more importantly why you cannot obtain an afadavit from your mother or father (which is what they ask for in cases where the birth certificate is unobtainable). If you don't have a copy I am sure your solicitor will - if not you should be able to get another copy from the court.

it does help. thanks!

jamie is going to schedule his medical tomorrow (16 mar) for late march-ish. i guess that appointment is necessary for the embassy to process a returned 'packet 3'? so he thinks he will send it out on monday too.

shaz, (i still have a hard time with this nicknaming convention. i LOVE when british people say it (like we have a friend harry/haz and caroline/kez). but i feel like an idiot when i try to join in on it. but, since we are typing, i can sidestep that loophole.) (im sorry i make all of this little parenthetical asides. i like to provide context for my sometimes rambling posts.)...

back you you, shaz, <giggle>, thank you for mentioning the date pushing. i need to remind jamie of that today. might have slipped my mind. so thanks.

Well, thing is, all the police have done is given them a verbal warning...so they've found ways of getting around that without being convicted. I've been more or less told that I have to organise the injunction/restraining order myself, and when I did call the National Centre for Domestic Violence, they also told me that unless a violent act had been committed upon me within the last ten days (this was back in November/December), they said they couldn't help me.

I'd have to pay my solicitor anyhow to help me out there...and I can't afford that. She's helping me about my cat under Legal Aid but I don't think she can do more than that. I do have the police letter though, and that does mention a domestic situation -- so hopefully it'll be enough.

Thankums Talyss :D.

Hi all

We got our NOA2 a couple weeks ago and the embassy in London has received our application. We have completed our Packet 3 forms based on the lists provided in this forum and scheduled our medical. Would it be okay to send our forms and checklist to the Immigrant Visa Unit before we actually receive the Packet 3 and, if so, where do we send them to?

We noticed that a couple others on this thread have sent in their documents before receiving Packet 3. We're getting a little impatient now as you can imagine. We'd like the interview done and dusted ASAP.

Best

Hi all

Swan and Tiger again. We dropped our Packet 3 in the mail today including two copies of the DS-156 (with barcode). According to a VJ post somewhere we aren't supposed to sign that form, but it didn't have the big PLEASE DO NOT SIGN warning on it. Should Tiger have signed it and, if so, should he just re-send it signed even though we haven't gotten an RFE or will they let him sign it at the Consulate? We don't want to delay anything.

Thanks,

Swan

If there's anything to sign, he can do it there. I wouldn't send additional stuff to get mixed up. Just sit back and relax for two weeks before you even think of fretting over getting an interview. It won't happen they day they receive your P3.
