Class dismissed.

:luv: Thank goodness for Nich! Where would we be without your eternal wisdom and endless pool of knowledge?

Magpie.

Yeah, well Magpie, you will have to hang around and help the new ones after you've experienced it all, but none of us have eternal wisdom. We just try to help where we can.

And Miss Charlotte...I finally looked at your timeline and see you've graduated from NVC, so yep you are indeed in line for an interview. I hope it comes fast for you. (F)

Okay, panic moment...my police certificate has a minor typo in my name, and on the copy too. The biological information is all perfect, though. Is this going to affect me drastically? I can't really afford to send out for another one, and my interview's at the end of March. What should I do?

FAO Nich-Nick, After reading the information you provided about the affidavit in more detail, I have come to the conclusion that I can only use options 1 to 4 when it comes to evidence. So just to wrap up will I be OK if my sponsor and co-sponsor provides any two of these four? Thanks.

Okay :P Panic over, for the moment. I called ACPO and panicked at them instead. They'll be calling me back as soon as it's sorted out, and hopefully I'll be re-issued my certificate before the 30th.

oh good. are they sending a new one by speedy mail?

im feeling slightly meh because i called the DOS to see if they could give me a firm date as to when the embassy rec'd our case, and she said 'it's on its way'. so i guess it hasnt arrived yet, despite what the last lady said. it was nice to think it was safely in the hands of the embassy in london. but im not too worried, still seems like things are bobbing along at about the right pace.

ms. nich, that was a brilliant review of the tax/i-134 situation. that will get printed out and neatly filed in my i-134 help file. thank you. seriously, thank you. <3

I can't say because there's no fast rule. It's whatever the interviewer you sit down with decides. Just try to think of it from his point of view and imagine if somebody presented you with that evidence. Could you tell clearly that they show the income needed? If your most recent tax return shows a good income and if you have previous years that further show good income (even better!), then that's going to be the biggest factor. But since you need a co-sponsor, it must mean that you don't make enough. Frankly, it doesn't really matter what you present because nothing is going to show enough, so I wouldn't lose sleep over yours. They will move quickly to the co-sponsor to verify if they have enough income and a couple of good ways to show it.

On a random side note about being creative and using your head to present yourself in the best light. Perhaps someone is graduating from medical school this summer but currently doesn't have the required salary coming in. Would they just give up and say "I don't qualify"? Maybe letter from him stating his current status, but yet great potential for sufficient income , accompanied by a letter from an advisor on medical school stationary verifying the graduation date, etc. would do alot to sway the subjective decision in his favor. MARM on here may not have income now, but could make herself look good by stating she wlll finish her Masters degree in (subject) on (date) and already has an employment offer. She could send a copy of her offer letter if it has a salary specified.

Your task is convince one guy you can support your fiance. We all have such varied situations that it would be impossible for them to make a checklist of the exact things one must send. Sure, average Joe has a job and a tax return and pay slips, so that becomes what everybody says you must send in. But some people don't have those. Think outside the box to prove your ability to support a spouse if you don't fit the norm. You only have to convince one guy.

If the interviewee is adorable and charming and smiles alot, that may just tip the scales in your favor because it's somewhat subjective whether they think you have proven your financial worth. (Magpie...you'll manage the adorable factor I think. :luv:)

Are you following me? The whole interview is subjective, so be pleasant, happy, confident, and relaxed. A tense, scared looking person might make them think "I wonder what this person is trying to hide? I better check them out better and go over these papers with a fine tooth comb."

They didn't get back to me today so I'll have to ring them tomorrow...their office closed at 16:30, boo for me.

And :: hugs :: I know the meh feeling. We've all been there, just sitting on our hands and waiting. 99.9% of this is waiting and holding your breath.

On a lighter note, my medical results are clear :D. I had it on the 2nd and I kept thinking the 3rd, so the lady was confused until I realised my mistake .

Eee, you're so good to me  . Truth be told, though, I've actually gone through my wardrobe and I'll be wearing the prettiest thing I have in there for my interview because I really want to make a good impression. And :o I do smile a lot! There's a bus driver for my university who always calls me Smiling Girl :P even when I'm feeling upset, and Knight calls me his Sunshine Girl :: blush :: but I promise I don't give sunburn. I smile even when I'm angry, rawr! But it's the horrible kind of smile, the kind you'd see on a shark when it's approaching you.

So, on that note:

so. at the moment, i am writing up / filling in an updated 'intent to marry' letter.

questions i am stuck on:

should i include reference to my self as 'the petitioner', or' the applicant' when drafting the letter?

what would jamie be? 'the beneficiary'? im confused and id love a suggestion as to what would be most appropriate.

i feel like i should include our LND case number and possibly jamie's A number from the NOA2. necessary?

also, since i am surrounded by piles of papers (organized, i promise) and i have so many bookmarks open on my laptop, but i cant seem to determine WHEN this letter is required? at the interview, i believe. not before then, correct?

but, there are worse way to spend a monday afternoon. im quite happy sitting here, sifting through paperwork, investigating requirements, listening to 'ben hur' on the bbc (which is pretty good. i like roman-themed things.), and watching the light snow falling.

okay. back to work. thanks, guys, for your help.

Take the letter to the interview. They may not even look at it.

I just amended the letter I sent with the I-129F. Changed the adress to the Embassy address and the date. I am the beneficiary/visa applicant as I am the one applying for the visa.

[My address]

The Immigrant Visa Unit,

5 Upper Grosvenor Street,

London WA1 1JB

Date:

Dear Sir or Madam:

I, Laura xxxxx, do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry Thomas xxxxx, and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

Yours truly,

I wasn't aware that a letter with intent to marry was required...I know that your fiance does that, but as far as I know, it's not a requirement. When you go to the interview, that's basically when you demonstrate your intent to marry -- :D they'd rather hear it from you than read it on paper. The only things you really need to send them are in your Packet 3, and what's required at the interview is listed on your Packet 4.

I spent my Monday afternoon going googly-eyed over my essays...

I had updated letters on intent for my interview but they never looked at them

If however your NOA2 has expired at the time of the interview you should take the updated letters with the and the one from the USC should be notarized, the NOA2 is valid for 4 months

i think gonna be one of those people who has extra evidence, just to feel prepared. im not even the one going to the interview! but i feel like need to be able to understand and help jamie if anything comes up.

i will keep in mind the 'valid until date' for the NOA2. (i added it to my timeline.) thanks for mentioning it.

Eep. I got my NOA2 in September...got my Packet 4 in January. I guess Knight has to hastily send a notarized letter, and we need to update the others generally. Thankums for the tip, I had no idea.

Not such a biggie honey, they have automatically extended your NOA2 date but best to be safe to have the letters, they probably wont ask for them but better safe than sorry
