Hey everyone,

I am looking for some advice here. I just got off the phone with the DOS to be informed that even though the UK embassy signed for our packet 3 on Feb. 6th, there is no record of it. There is a record of the medical which was a week later but no packet 3 having been received. The woman at the DOS said that it should not have taken a full month for the UK embassy to get it in their system. So I am wondering how worried should I be here. Both me and my fiance are working double shifts to get some money together and trying to find time to call all these people is almost impossible. We both get done with work long after everything is closed. I am about to lose it with them telling me there is no record of packet 3 and I am hoping that this is not as much of an issue as the woman at the DOS makes it seem to be. I am running on 2-3 hours of sleep a day, working two full-time jobs and trying to do full-time online school, I just can't take hearing that there is a problem with our case :crying:

I suggest you ring the embassy high cost helpline press 3 to skip the voice preamble and get an operator. and ask them for the weekly code for e-mailing the embassy. This will get you to the attention of someone who has access to the paperwork who can check for you. They may take 2-3 days to respond to send you an e-mail response.

The other alternative would be to resend the packet 3 documents with a covering note stating that the DoS helpline says they have not been received so you are sending them again.

Thank you for replying, it has helped calm me down. I am going to do both. This just upset me so much. I couldn't even think with a calm head what to do I was so angry.

:D They're generally pretty helpful so I wouldn't worry! I utterly agree with Talyss; between pestering them via emails and phone calls, resend your Packet 3 just in case. There's no harm in doing that as long as you provide the explanation letter.

Good luck!

Magpie.

This happened to us once. Basically, it turned out we just got a really stupid girl who was reading the information on the computer wrong and told us there was no record of our case. I called them back a few minutes later, got a different visa specialist, and was informed everything was in place and we probably got a new trainee the first time around. I hope this is the case with you! Try calling again before you pay super high rates to phone the embassy itself. Good luck!

hurry up packet 4.. i dont know why i am soo uneasy at the moment i need to have my interview soon so i can just go about packing and getting things sorted out!

:P Even though I can't travel until I finish my degree, my new suitcase came in. I didn't have one of my own so I figured it was okay to splurge, but I didn't have to spend as much as I thought I had to. I looked at various high street shops and such, I could only find good suitcases and such for £70+. But I found this little site -- I got a medium red Aviation for only £30, +£3 for delivery. It came really quickly and it's fantastic quality, not to mention big! I'm going to see how much I can fit in it so I can work out what to ship...

More than happy to help guys :D I'm so happy with this suitcase. If you want an idea of suitcase sizes, just go into a regular luggage shop and innocently ask about dimensions -- that's what I did. Also check with the airline you're hoping to travel with about allowed luggage dimensions/weight. This one's pretty lightweight...I had to bring it up three flights of steep stairs and I was okay with it. It's got a surprising amount of space, more than it seems to from the outside. Standard inside, one pocket on the lid, but deep. I can sit in it! I'm sure if I curled up real small I could smuggle myself in it...wait, why would I want to do that?

:D I can post up the luggage link in a separate thread, if you like...I don't know how long the offers are lasting, though.

Enjoy that champagne, Shaz :D you earned it!
