Called DOS today. Usually they just tell me that they're still going through my Packet 3 response but today they told me that it'd been 'approved' and that I'm now 'eligable' for an interview. She also said I should call back in a few days and they should be able to give me my interview date :D

Police certificates finally came too, yay. :D

YAY :dance::dance::dance:

Dont suppose there is any chance you will get a interview for next Friday at 8am, could do with the company hahahahahahah

I'll try hahaha

Ok everyone, I know this is totally :ot:

but I was wondering:

Does anyone know if the temp EAD stamp issued at JFK is any good? I created a new topic in the "Moving to America..." section, but I thought to ask here as well.

Will my fiance still be eligible to work with the 90 day temp EAD stamp from JFK (while he waits for one he will file with AOS)?

I read some new regulations and requirements on the USCIS website, but I am confused...

I hope someone can explain whether the EAD stamp from JFK is still valid or not.

My understanding from the temporary EAD stamp debate is it is only valid if you have a work related visa which specifies employment with a specific employer.

In addition when I came through Chicago yesterday they wrote "Admitted solely to marry" on the back of my I194.

Thanks for the info Talyss. My fiance will also be coming in through Ohare for POE since I live in Chicago :) . We were initially planning on JFK just for the temp EAD, but it is not worth it as it is not valid anymore for K-1 admittances.

That sounds like a great idea...but my fiance is not flying directly from Heathrow to Ohare. Once he gets his K-1 visa, I will be joining him in London and then we will both go together to our native country Pakistan to visit his parents before he comes to the US (since adjusting and all of that will make it hard to go for another 2 years at least), and we will both be flying into Ohare from Pakistan, so I will be with him for his POE. But whereabouts is your fiance from in the UK? And when do you plan on POE? Maybe both our fiances will have the same interview date...and do not hesitate to PM me if I can help in anyway since we are both in IL. :star:

Too bad we're not that far along yet.. just got our NOA2 last week. But its good to see other Chicago/UK couples out here.

Bob, who is looking forward to picking her up at O'hare for the last time.

Well since we might be done a little quicker then you guys we can for sure tell you all some advice :)

Like.....anyone who is waiting a interview and thinks they have waited long enough (just keep in mind....when you said on your packet 3 when you wanted to GET MARRIED, not travel, is how they determine when you will come to the usa), i would recommend maybe sending a letter if you want.

Dawn and I both did it (another VJ member). She received her interview date 3 days after they received it and we recieved our interview date 4 days after they recieved our letter (mainly im sure because of the weekend). But so far, it looks like a good turn around after sending in ''sucking up'' letters :)

So in our case, we put we wanted to get married march 27th, he would be traveling in on the 26th...packet 3 was sent on the 11th, received on the 12th (of feb)....since we said we wanted to travel so soon, i thought 15 days was giving them plenty of time for giving us a interview. so feb 25th i wrote a letter, sent it to my fiances email, he printed and sent it the same day, next day to london and they received it the 26th (signed for). and 4 days later we had a interview date when i called.

of course it could be coincidence that both dawn and i got our interview dates quickly after letters we sent---it could have just been that we were going to get our dates on the dates we did anyway.....but it calmed my nerves knowing that we sent the letter :)

oh and the letter was pretty much along the lines of, we know your busy, we understand, can we please get a interview so we can marry on the day we wanted.....if anyone wants to send that kind of letter, i/we would be more then happy to help :)

good luck to everyone else!!!

Good medical review, very entertaining and thorough! :)

Just wanted to tell you (its the medical side of me that wont let me rest until I tell you) that it is a good thing to draw blood from a body once in a blue moon, so that the blood has a chance of creating (reproducing itself) fresh "new" blood. Otherwise blood never gets a chance to do this, and it is healthy for blood to create fresh blood once in a while. So although it sucks to give away precious blood, it is good for the body (of course as long as it is done once in 1 year or so, not more frequent than that!)

P.S. Don't quote me as I am not an MD, but I am a health professional (Psychologist with a strong pre-med background)

:) So that was just an FYI rambling from me
