2 days ago we sent them a letter requesting that they give us a interview date as soon as they can to work with our plans--since we want to get married by a certain date--and thats a month away! so hopefully we will know by monday.

today they just told me that we are 'eligible' for a interview but it hasnt been scheduled yet. jesus...how many eligible petitions to they just have lying around. boo

I think I might try and get the good lady to call the DOS again when she wakes up and hopefully we will get a date too!

You do understand that DOS doesn't give you the interview? They only see what London has scheduled. You guys should make a timeline. Did you get P3 or did you just send in the forms ahead of P3? When was your NOA2? When did your file arrive in London from NVC?

Yep, I do understand that. I also understand that DOS is neither £1.20 a minute, and a maze of number pressing to speak to someone who can't help you and tells you instead to call back.

I did have a timeline all done, but for some reason the site lost all my info and I haven't had the time (or the inclination, if i'm honest) to redo it all again.

We got the NOA2 in the first week of January, the P3 didn't arrive (and still hasn't), so I did the forms myself. I have since had an email from the londonconsular address to say I should hear within 4-6 weeks. That was about 10 days ago. The NOA2 was well before Christmas.

Any more questions? :D

Got it! I was reading this thread like people thought if they called DOS enough or begged or cried they might get the interview sooner. I discovered DOS had all this info back last year sometime. I used to get through to them instantly, but I think the word has sufficiently spread and they are getting busier. Do you people calling now get through pretty fast? I love DOS. They've always been so much better than the extortion line at the Embassy.

On your timeline. I thought mine was lost, so made a new one only to discover I had actually forgotten which email address I had used to create it. Then I had two timelines and it screwed up Igor's list. Had to get Capt Ewok to straighten me out and delete one.

That's what I meant too :D I only would call to get the interview date, not to ask...I just figured that they'd set a whole load of dates at once for people.

ok what is the DOS and whats their number? Im not in a rush more that i wana know so i can plan my life accordingly

The Dept of State (202) 663-1225, press 1, then 0. Can tell you if app was received by embassy, when Packet 3 sent out and when interview is scheduled.

The Dept of State is the US agency over Embassies. DOS issues the visa, not the USCIS, which is a totally different agency under the Dept of Homeland Security. So once you get NOA2 from USCIS, you get turned over to DOS. DS forms are Dept of State. I forms are USCIS.

When you enter the US, you get checked by CPB under the DHS. Then you apply for AOS from the USCIS. Is it any wonder this process is so confusing and the rules conflict at times. :girlwerewolf2xn:

Ok everyone, I know this is totally :ot:

but I was wondering:

Does anyone know if the temp EAD stamp issued at JFK is any good? I created a new topic in the "Moving to America..." section, but I thought to ask here as well.

Will my fiance still be eligible to work with the 90 day temp EAD stamp from JFK (while he waits for one he will file with AOS)?

I read some new regulations and requirements on the USCIS website, but I am confused...

I hope someone can explain whether the EAD stamp from JFK is still valid or not.

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)
