Hello

So just to let you know i called the London Embassy 'rip off' line and spoke to someone last night. He told me that they are just waiting for my checklist to be logged and although i sent it 3 weeks ago sometimes it can take up to 6 weeks to log! He told me that they have not sent me a letter and not to listen to DOS as at this stage in the game they have no idea what they are talking about if it is not written in black and white on the screen!

Thank god there is nothing wrong! I was a little worried for a minute!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi people! Merry Xmas to one and all.

My first post, so a little back history, until I get my profile sorted.

Well, I'm going through the whole K-1 process (which was started with the original petition being sent at the beginning of October).

Myself and my fiance have been a little surprised (pleasantly) with the speed of the process.

I am now at the stage of having my Packet 3 and just getting ready to send off the D forms.

I've managed to fill all the forms out, with some confidence...but!...there's always a but, isn't there? Even though, I have found this site a mine of info, much appears to be outdated, or contradictory depending on where you look. In all fairness, I can understand this though....trying to cater for many nationalities and a process itself that is confused, must be a nightmare to document.

Anyway, back to my "but"...Confusion reigns as to which forms to sign and date, out of the Packet 3 documents? I see much guidance, to just sign the DS-230 Part 1. But looking at the forms the DS-156 looks sign-able also (the DS-156K and DS-157 are self explanatory really). So nothing like asking the guys with their hands on the Visa already.

My god, just trying to remember the forms, my mind turns to mush :P

Anyway, I will start to update my profile, while encouraged by the success stories here :)

Hi Martin and welcome!

Ok, so i have looked over all of my photocopied forms that i sent in and the following are the forms you should and shouldn't sign:

DO NOT SIGN:

DS-230 PT2

DS-157

DS-156K

Although saying this any extra sheets of paper that i sent with these forms i included my name, DOB, my fiance's name, DOB, our case number and signed and dated them.

DO SIGN:

IV-15 / Checklist

DS-156

DS-230 PT1

Hope this helps and good luck!

Lesley

GRRRRRR dept of state!!

I've been calling every day to see if an interview has been scheduled (yes I know it's futile until at least January 2nd, but hey a girl can dream yes?) and I've been told from December 17 on that my packet has been logged and eligible for an interview, but no interview yet.

Today, the lady says that there is no interview and paperwork is missing and that I'm not eligible for an interview. Thank goodness for lesley's post on her troubles with them at dept of state. I'm not panicking, I know it's probably just an oversight, especially as she mentioned that I might get an interview from February 17 to March 17 which are the dates that David requested in his cover letter.

I'm going to call tomorrow again just to be sure of course, and if I hear the same thing from multiple people, then I'll consider calling the US embassy...lesson be learned here folks! If you're obsessive about calling as me :)

I just now called DoS and Rose answered quickly, but then sounded like she didn't really look it up!

Usually they ask me to wait while they pull-up the records, but not today. She just said "no not yet" referring to my interview date inquiry.

I might try calling later to see if I get the same info.

:(

You'll probably get it in the first half of Jan (Your appointment date that is)... we've noticed quite the trend with booking interview dates in the first half of a month, then quiet for the last half (as far as interview booking is concerned). Take a look at my sig.... its pretty common (minus taking so long to send in Packet 3... that was Riggs's fault  )

If you're reading this Riggs, you know I love you :luv:
