I'm feeling pretty frustrated with the London part of the process right now. They have now started the policy of needing you to get the medical done a week before the interview. Since my fiance lives in Edinburgh, this is NOT an easy thing to do. It means TWO trips to London...

*grumble grumble grumble*

I don't see why they only allow ONE company to do the medical, nor do I understand why only the London embassy can process these visas when there is an embassy located in Edinburgh. It's not as though the London embassy does things quickly either.

Sorry for the rant, it's just seeming like such a pain in the ####.

On another note, anyone that had their P3 sent out on Modnay receive it yet?

I grumble grumble grumble too. Paul lives north of Manchester, def nowhere near as far as Edinburgh, but distance is distance. They are princes these men of ours. :luv:

Hi, Tony and I are a bit confused. We read the instructions for I-134 and is it only self employed that have to have tax returns? We have almost every other form of financial support. Do we need tax returns aswell???

thanks

Amanda :)

Amanda~~

You are correct. A tax return is not required at the Embassy. It will be required for the I-864 Affidavit of Support with AOS or a statement of why one has not filed. The tax return has become the document they have come to routinely expect to see. If it looks good, they just pass on to the next thing. You can still prove your financials to them in other ways. You actually don't even have to do an I-134. There are instructions of how to complete your own DIY affidavit, but it's so complicated to include all the things you must state in it, that it's far easier to do an I-134.

Prior to January 2009, they mailed out a packet of paper instructions. Evidence of support was detailed on a page similiar to this webpage.

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/faffidavit.html

It said to bring two or more proofs from this list:

  • notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;
  • a statement from his or her employer showing salary and the length and permanency of employment;
  • a statement from an officer of a bank regarding his or her account, the date the account was opened and the present balance;
  • any other evidence adequate to establish financial ability to carry out his or her undertaking toward the applicant for what might be an indefinite period of time
.

If you can establish your financial situtation with other documents, then that's fine. They may look it over longer or more carefully, but they won't refuse you for not bringing a tax return.

You will be doing AOS soon, so be aware that if the USC was required to file and didn't, he/she should get taxes done and filed late. That's just a "head's up" for your next big set of paperwork. If you weren't required to file because of low income, or a student with little income, then a statement must be written to explain why you were not required to file a tax return. The I-864 is a little more detailed than the I-134, but if you read the instructions for the I-864 it will help explain things for the I-134. It goes into more detail of what's in included family size, etc. The I-134 has only recently added a separate sheet of instructions but the I-864 instructions are better.

I think they mean *at least* a week, not exactly a week... They just don't want people getting the medical 3 days before the interview. Maybe Knightsbridge is taking too long to send results or something...

Im wondering if you can answer a question for me, Patrick called the IRS yesterday to ask if they can send him his Federal Tax Returns and i know that some of you said that they would send these for free but they quoted him $57 each!! Can i ask what number people called and whether a copy of his Federal Tax returns would be ok because he can print these for free or does he need originals?

Thanks

Your advice again if possible. So far this is what we have to go with the I-134:

Letter from Employer on headed paper saying how much Patrick earns, how long he has been with the company, whether he is full time / part time and what his job title is.

Letter from his bank - (he has not got this yet) but want to get how long he has had the account, how much he has in the account and how much has been deposited in the account in the last year.

2006 / 2007 / 2008 W2 Tax forms (PDF emailed to me) Should we get these notorized?

And earning statements for May / June / July / Aug / Sept / Oct and will give me more closer to my email. (PDF emailed to me) He does not get given hard copies just emailed, again do we need to get these notorized?

Now i have the link from pdcvcm i will get Patrick to ask them to post his tax transcripts.

Do we need anything else or will this be enough?

Thanks

Yep, that's perfect, nice job! :)

Nothing needs to be notarized anymore. So don't worry about that. The tax transcripts you're ordering serve the exact same purpose as if you sent your whole return and W2, but with the transcript you don't need your W2, which is nice. It's a full official copy of your return that costs $57, which is why the free transcripts are an awesome thing! I sent my return from '08 because I had a copy of it and a copy of my W2. But I got transcripts for 07 and 06.

And paystubs do not need to be notarized either. Print outs of direct deposit PDFs are quite common, no problem.

Looks good! :thumbs: :thumbs:

The copy of the tax return is an actual photocopy of the physical papers the USC sent in. That's why it costs so much, they have to go find the actual papers and run them through the copier.

The tax transcripts are just a computer printout. All text, and just a couple of pages, even if you send in 15 pages of schedules and such!
