probably off thread here, but how do i find out this stuff.

7-29-2009: NVC in

9-01-2009: NVC out

9-03-2009: London In

9-14-2009: P3 issued (per DOS)

9-23-2009: P3 sent to London (no letter received)

9-24-2009: P3 arrived at the embassy (Royal Mail receipt)

10-1-2009: London has logged in our P3 documents

I have signed up on the uscis site for case updates, will it tell me in there, or is it just a case of calling them constantly?

Hello all

Im wondering if anyone can tell me, on form DS-156, question 36: "Has anyone ever filed an Immigration Visa Petition on Your Behalf" what do i put? Im assuming it is yes and do i need to put anymore than my fiance's name?

Thanks

Check out the example forms section at the top of the page here. The example forms say check no. Actually, your fiance has petitioned for a NON-immigrant visa for you.

There is one glaring difference between London and the example forms on this site. The I134 for London, they want to see "DO INTEND" to make specific contributions checked - unlike the example form which is do not.

Sorry if i sounded grumpy! I am going to take your advice, you have the visa in hand, i dont!

So if he ticks the intend box what sort of thing do we need to write, how long does he have to give money to me for and if he puts it is for room/board and living expenses while i am unable to work is that ok?

I am the USC, and for my fiance (also "visa in hand"), I wrote, "Any funds necessary for the duration of his stay".

:) It will be fine.

Thank you so much

Congrats on the NOA2 you got Wednesday! I suggest not finding out all of those dates if you can avoid it. It will just drive you crazy. Of course I'll just assume you are like me and can't help but know the EXACT status of your case. So I will explain how I found out all of my dates below.

You can call NVC and find out if they have forwarded your case to the London embassy. That number is (603) 334-0700. You can also ask them for the case number London Embassy will be using. That is the number the non-US Citizen will need to fill out the DS forms and to schedule the medical.

If they tell you that the case has been forwarded to London, they will usually tell you the date it was sent. I tracked mine on DHLs website by typing in 'EXP 14 OCT 2009A' and finding the package that was sent to the UK. If they have not send it yet and tell you that you are in processing, just call back a couple of days later.

Some people will try to call London to find out the status of their case. Many of us believe that is a waste of money. Calling the Department of State (DOS) is cheaper and easier. That number is 202 663 1225. Press 1, then 0. This agency will be able to tell you if London has acknowledged receipt of your case, if London has sent out the P3, if London has received the P3 papers from you, AND if London has scheduled your interview date.

You can read up on the London Consulate here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...&cty=London

Since you have the NOA2, I suggest the USC get the I134 document from USCIS.gov and all of the supporting evidence ready, and the UKC review the checklist and 4 DS forms here: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html

If anyone sees any errors in this info, PLEASE let me know!!

That was a really good answer JewelTx. :star:

Just wanted to comment on USCIS case updates. When you get the petition approved and the case sent on to the NVC, you are basically through with USCIS for awhile so there will be no further updates after they say petition approved. The Visa is issued by the Dept of State (DOS) so you're transitioning to a totally new part of the US government. The "hand-off" is at the NVC. That's why things some things seem repetitive in what they ask for. That's why your forms to London are mostly "DS" forms (Dept of State). (If you noticed, forms for USCIS all are "I" forms.) So until you get the visa, the DOS is your best source of info.

Once you enter the US and marry, you will file to the USCIS once again for Adustment of Status AOS, EAD (work), and AP (travel) . You will get new NOAs and case numbers that you can add to you current USCIS log-in to track your new applications.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else is tracking along the same timeline, and what the wait between sending packet 3 and receiving an interview is.

We sent our packet 3 on the 13th Oct (got to the embassy on the 14th signed for etc via courier). We rang the DoS today but they say it is still not on their system that we sent Packet 3 back. Is this normal? It has been over 2 weeks now, just starting to get worried.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

This happened with our petition from the NVC to London, it arrived two days after it was sent but sat for 3 weeks without being entered. Try not too worry, i know that is easier to say as this whole process is stressful.

I have the very same problem. The DHL confirmation shows our packet 3 was delivered to embassy on 10/15/09 but DOS says there is no record of it at embassy as of 10/30/09. It is just so frustrating when we don't know if they have it in their hands or just simply somehow lost it. I just want to know how long should we wait before sending them the whole packet 3 once again ? ...Any idea ?!

Thanks.

More likely that they haven't opened up the package yet...I wouldn't send P3 documents until you are in the system electronically (different from the physical package), which DOS can tell you if you ask.

Naturalization

9/9: Mailed N-400 package off

9/11: Arrived at Dallas, TX

9/17: NOA

9/19: Check cashed

9/23: Received NOA

10/7: Text from USCIS on status update: Biometrics in the mail

10/9: Received Biometrics letter

10/29: Biometrics

10/31: In-line

2/16: Text from USCIS that Baltimore has scheduled an interview...finally!!

2/24: Interview letter received

3/24: Naturalization interview

Thanks for input, but what do you mean by being in system electronically ? DOS told me that they got our medical which was done on 10/27/09 already but no record of our packet 3 which was received by embassy on 10/15/09 based on DHL confirmation. Does it mean that we are already in the system electronically ?

I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it seems like NVC sends off your info electronically as well as the physical papers. Someone a few pages back had DOS tell her that it was kind of like e-mail. Just call up DOS on Monday and ask if you're in electronically, I guess.

Im just wondering what all the english fiance(e)s put on form DS-156 regarding the city there passport was issued in.....i have no idea where my passport was issued and called the passport people and they basically told me just to write United Kingom and that would be fine and if i wanted a more specific answer to write to them but this might take 2-3 weeks for an answer! Im always worried when someone who is not on this journey says "just put this, it'll be fine!"

So, yes, what did everyone else put or how did you find the info out?

Thanks

whoo!!

DOS told me today that the USE has opened up our physical package! I asked her if they sent packet 3 but I couldn't really understand her...does it seem like every DOS person you talk to speaks in a heavy accent?

Oh man. Once they send out P3, I'm not going to have anyone to call! lol, I guess I have to just start bugging David to fill out the forms. Seeing him this week in St. Louis <3

oh yeah and it's nearly exactly the day that David wrote me a love song on youtube for my birthday that made me say "Okay. Yeah. I think I'm falling for you." <3

One year later and we in the visa process, hoping to be together soon!

Sorry, I'm just feeling kinda all happy/mushy inside.

Yay! Congrats on another step! I'm hoping to get the same news soon, since you and I both had our packages (or possibly the same one) delivered by DHL on the 19th.

Oh, and with the "not going to have anyone to call" thing - just think, in a couple weeks you can call and bug them to see if they issued your P4 with your interview date yet!   Can't wait for that day myself!!

Okay...I have sort of an update for those of you that mailed packet 3 and have been waiting for some response that they have received those documents. I called DOS and they said that they have opened the packet 3 envelope that David mailed but have not qualified him yet. I am assuming that this means that they have not entered the DS forms into the system. Does anyone know how long that typically takes? I am relieved to know that the forms aren't floating around the embassy or lost so atleast it is something. The woman I spoke to said that the London Embassy is back logged and that they have been receiving a lot of phone calls today for London. Hopefully, we will all hear something more this week..
