Society did NOT fail this woman. This woman failed herself in a despicable way. She was old enough to jump into bed with some guy and get knocked up. She is an adult and as such, should have made a decision to terminate long before 23 weeks. Society is not repsonsible for the ####### decisions that people make, and nor should it be blamed when a stupid 18 year old WOMAN makes herself an accessory to murder. If this haunts her for the rest of her life, so it should.

Wow.

You don't know this woman, all you know are a VERY few facts. To judge her on a few scraps of information is just wrong.

We don't know her situation, her frame of mind, her education levels, what the doctor told her...nothing. And let's not forget that teenagers have the ability to try and put things to the back of their minds thinking they have enough time.

The doctor may have told her what she wanted to hear in order to get her to pay him the money for the abortion.

We just don't know.

What she went through was appalling and I'm sure she will regret this for the rest of her life.

She was wrong, I agree, but I wouldn't judge her without having more facts.

the facts for me are clear. She was 23 weeks pregnant, arranged a termination, and watched her baby thrown in the trash. People have to be held accountable for their actions, and she stood by and let her baby be thrown away by a real sicko. Who does that?

Aaahh so let's sum up

*Partial birth abortion

*Not performed or even supervised by a licensed practitioner

*No counseling for the mother

All things that FOCA is aimed to achieve! Still sound like a good idea???

23 weeks? Don't women usually start to notice something's missing about that time?

Never mind a missing period...Women feel the baby kick between 16 and 18 weeks

babycenter - 16 weeks

Saludos,

Caro

I never felt the baby kick at 20+ weeks.. I think it is different for everybody...

I agree. I didn't feel my baby kick until later on, because of where the placenta was positioned.

You're using this extreme case to challenge the entire pro-choice stance on an ideological level.

That my friend - is propaganda.

Hey dude, are you overlooking the fact that whole, Abortion -house of cards- is sold to the public on "extreme cases".

Of the Million plus Abortions done every year.. what percentage are from Rape and incest?

What she did was legal. There's nothing to be held accountable for.

Certainly it was badly handled, hence the doctor has had his license suspended.

It might be "Legal" to tell your wife. her "azz is getting fat", but you "will" be held accountable.

There are all type of accountability, coming from various places.

Precisely. Its marketed by extremes by the likes of those that can use reason to pass their case along.

Its a woman's choice, not an exercise in dumb@ss extremes.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Yes I agree, but my point was trying to demonstrate (via a little humor) we are held to account for our actions, one way or another.

I have known 2 women who personally confided regret at getting an Abortion.

I recall this one situation where I was having a conversation with a girl from Riddley PA.

Now this girl was a flaming liberal (which probably accounts for our short romance) anyway, we were having a late night conversation about different Political/ social ideas and the subject of abortion came up.

She said she was very much Pro-choice and told me why.

I told her while I did believe in a womans right, at some point that unborn babies right to life outgrows the womans right to choose.

We were like just talking about it, not even debating the issue or anything ... we were still in that "polite stage" of the relationship.

She kinda got quiet and all of a sudden she starts crying, which really took me by surprise, and I said "whats the matter"

and I recall she said, "she would be three now". She told me she had an abortion 3 yrs ago.

I was kinda lost for words, and I remember wondering "why is she referred to "it" has a "her"?

Well anyway, I put on my "sensitive guy" act and she was alright in a minute but it really showed me how, even a woman who marches in prochoice events can be conflicted about the choice she made.

I have no doubt this lady, where ever she is at today, is still 100% Pro-life and it might also be she still keeps track of how old her child would have been.

I'm not suggesting all women have this experience, in fact my best friend's cousin has had a number of abortions, (more than 5 IIRC). When my friend asked her how she can keep doing that, she told him, "it's no different than getting a tooth pulled".

Interesting story Danno.

This is probably one of those issues where we shouldn't use single examples to brushcoat an entire population.

Interesting too is that many pro-choice folks like myself probably wouldn't have an abortion if we were pregnant. But hey ho. I am not a female so I do not impose my will upon others. ;)

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

People make conflicting choices everyday...

What if one of us decided that the whole K1 thing was just too much hassle...?

Even if you made the decision on sound practical grounds, wouldn't at least a part of you wonder what you missed out on?

That women can and do feel this about abortion isn't terribly different.
