There is a wide range of what is considered a 'sex offender' as well. I am not sure what the statistics are, but I would be reasonably confident that the majority of those on sex offender registers are not rapists, have never been rapists and will never be rapists. Personally, I think rapists and physical molesters should be on a register and the rest not.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that some of these people are also probably on the list from when being gay was considered a sexual offense, but the lists may have been purged, I guess.

At the gym last night - there was a news story on the TV about a guy wanted in connection with sexual assault.

Apparently he'd grabbed a woman's buttocks and run away...

Presumably, if caught, he would be considered a "sex offender" also.
