Hi, I have been a member for 3 years now and have lived in the US for 6, married 5 years. I am sorry for not going by my usual name, but no one would remember me anyway as I did not post here too often.

I have been unhappy for a while now, let's just say my husband was not what he portrayed to be. I left everything, good job, sold my house and I suppose I am scared at how to start up again. I sold my house for over $150,000 and most of that went into his gambling. I also feel ashamed of going back penniless, after being financially ok over there. I would be homeless also, I do not even know where I would go. If we sold the house here, there would be no money over , so no point.

I am from England and if I went back I would have to ask for assistance or housing(until I got on my feet) and do not know how to go about doing that. I also have a 15 year old child with me, who has no clue what I am wanting to do, I just want to know my opions and would appreciate any advice.

Thank you

Well, its not going to be easy to start again, but if you are truly unhappy then you will have to start somewhere right?

Are there women's shelters you could go to? Family or friends you could possibly stay with for a little bit?

I am sorry your marriage isn't working. :( Good luck in whatever decision you make.

I'm really sorry to hear of your plight. But as you are probably aware, a gambler who isn't doing anything about the problem is only going to sink into debt deeper. You need to stop the bleeding now or you'll go home less than broke.

Humble yourself and ask your family for help. But save yourself and your child from drowning.

I've been there. I truly sympathize.
